Have you booked a place on the Younger Women's Forum in Liverpool?

Hi
Booked a place on the Younger Women’s Forum but worried about going alone?
Considering booking a place but not sure?
Every year we receive queries from women, including concerns about coming along to the Forum on their own. Feedback from previous forums has said how helpful it was to talk on the Forums before the event.
This thread is a chance for you to say hello and “meet” others attending the Forum. I will check in regularly and if you have any questions do let me know and I will do my best to answer them.
Look forward to meeting you in September.
Steph

Hello,

I went on the London Younger Women’s Forum last year and it was fantastic. It was a real turning point for me. I had just started my treatment (chemo prior to surgery) and was feeling really scared, lost and isolated. The forum was excellent for meeting similar aged women going through the same thing and the seminars were so useful for understanding the disease, treatment and surgery more. For me, understanding and knowledge made it all much less scary. Ferility was a huge issue for me and I was also terrifed of the surgery as knew i had to have a mastectomy following my chemo and thought I would look and feel like a freak - but the reconstruction options are excellent nowadays. In fact I ended up transferring to the surgeon who led the seminar as I really warmed to her and some of her patients were there who showed me their recons which were brilliant. There were also young volunteers there who’d been through the whole shebang and had come out the other side smiling and had got their lives back on track. That was great to see when I’d only just started treatment. I met a great group of girls - some of whom I meet up with regularly - and we all said that it was the first time we had laughed since diagnosis.

I would wholeheartedly recommend signing up and using this invaluable resource.

Hi,
I am going to the Liverpool Forum and looking forward to meeting everyone there. Since January this year been through surgery, chemo, rads, herceptin and tamxoifen for Invasive Ductal Carcinoma and so will be good to have a weekend away from the kids to get to grips with everything that has happened. I live in Sefton and it will be nice to meet other women in the Liverpool area who have been through a similar experience and hopefully have a few laughs along the way. I am 45 so not that far away from you in age Stella either, quite glad to be considered young woman…
All the best,
Jacky

Hi
Any Younger women’s forum weekends planned for Norfolk or London?

I know there is another forum later on in Brighton which is probably closer to me but i really want to get some info on surgery and may either be waiting for or had mine by the time that one comes around. I have invasive lobular cancer like u and am having chemo 1st followed by op then radiotherapy. I’m on day 8 of chemo number 2 today so at the time of the forum i will be halfway through number 4. oOh and i forgot to say i’m 33 (well 34 at weekend )

Hi Sian,

Hope you had a good birthday! Be good to meet you in Liverpool. You are travelling a long way, aren’t you but I am sure it will be worth it. A friend of mine attended a forum a couple of years ago and said she really enjoyed it. Hope your Chemo is going well and SEs not too bad. The treatment I had this year seemed such a long haul but suddenly can’t believe I am more or less out the other side, even started the gym last week just after finishing rads. I had the surgery first so the process has been a bit different for me and I suppose the forum is a good opportunity to meet people who have had similar experiences. Anyway look after yourself and see you there. Jacky x

Hi, Jacky and Sian,
I too am going to the Liverpool forum in september. I am 43 diagnosed last Novemeber with invasive ductal carcinoma too, have had surgery, chemo and radiotherapy, had the summer to recover and enjoy with my family. Start back in work on monday !! which will be a shock to the system, so a night away with the’ boob people’ (as my husband refers to it) will be good. Hope your treatment is going ok Sian, look forward to meeting you all in a couple of weeks time Zoe xxx

Hi everyone, my name is Anita and I’m booked onto the Younger Women’s Forum in Liverpool at the end of this month. I’m 36 years old with a 6 year old daughter and I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast and Lymph Node cancer last May. I’ve finished treatment and had my last operation in May this year. Everything seems to have gone well but I still feel quite wobbly about the whole thing so I think the Forum will be very helpful and I’m looking forward to meeting you all. Anita xx

Hi girls not long now untill the forum. Are u as excited as me? I’m a bit nervous coming a long way on my own but i cant wait to get some more info and meet u lovely ladies.
Sian. X

Hello everyone,
I too have just booked myself onto the Liverpool forum in the hope that I can start to face up to what has happened to me in the last couple of months. I was diagnosed at the end of July - just four weeks before my wedding (!!) and then had a mastectomy less than a week later. I am glad to say that I did make it into that dress with the help and support of my lovely husband and wonderful breastcare nurse. I have had round one of chemo which really knocked me for six and will have had round two at the begining of the same week as the forum so am a little concerned how I will be feeling. My hair is falling out and I don’t like it.
It is reassuring to read lots of comments about life after chemo and going back to work and to know that there will be people at different stages of treatment to talk to about their own experiences. I am looking forward to all your positive energy!
Polly

Hi girls. Not long now untill the forum. I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone there. As i’m coming such a long way i’ll be in the hotel from Thursday afternoon so if anyone is free and wants to meet up that evening or before the forum starts on Friday morning i’d be more than willing. Had my 4th chemo this week and i’m actually feeling really good compared to the last 3, no sickness and no nausea eureka! I hope you are all well too.
