Hello everyone
Can anyone recommend some headgear? I want to wear headscarves and bandanas after I lose my hair, can you recommend any Uk suppliers so I can get shopping online? Also any tips for particular types to choose/avoid?
Thank you

I wore buffs throughout my chemo - you can wear them in different styles including as bandanas, they cover your whole head and don’t slip about like scarves. Sorry, I can’t remember the website address but it’s something like buffwear.co.uk, you should be able to find it on google, also they are sold in outdoor adventure type shops like Fat Face, Blacks and Milletts.
Hi Louise,
I can highly recommend an american site called ‘www.headcovers.com’. Although the scarves come from the US, the postage is v.cheap and delivery is superfast.
The site is awesome and does a fab range of scarves. I rarely wore my wig when on chemo, instead I had some eyelet lace head scarves which I got in almost every colour! I am rubbish at tying scarfs and these were ideal as they were ready done and came with a scrunchie. I can also recommend their terry towelling sleep cap. Its a godsend at night if you’re head gets a bit cold!
Hope that helps,
Good luck with your treatment,
Kelly

Hi Louise
I can recommend Bandanasrus. (www.bandanasrus.co.uk) although you may it easier to view the products on ebay 1st. (the pictures are better). The owner a lady called Paula had breast Cancer in 2004 and started this up when she found it difficult to get head gear she liked. She makes the bandanas to order - so it takes 4-5 days but they are fab. It does not matter how windy it has got they have not fallen off and I have had so many comments about them - all good. I know have 7 of them (one of everyday of the week!!! and often have trouble deciding which one to wear.(they are made with the ties on - so no mucking around with folding and tying etc.
Take care, Love

This might help
My favorite way of scarf tying was from www.tznius.com/cgi-bin/rainbow.pl
Other methods at: www.tlccatalog.org/articleprint.aspx?art=127
My favorite websites for scarves etc are:
modestworld.com/shop.html and headcovers.com/
On modestworld she will find snoods which keep the scarves in place.
Others worth a look are

buffwear.com/

Happy hunting!
Thank you so much for all these suggestions, guys! I have already started some research based on your comments, it gives me something positive to do as chemo looms and I am very grateful
All the best to everyone

I was told to buy cotton scarves rather than silky ones as they would be slippy and slide off. However, when I got bored with my collection I rumaged in my wardrobe & found some old scarves which were ‘slippy’ but found them no trouble at all. I made sure I tied them tight so the knot didn’t come undone & was OK.
I bought several scarves from an ethnic type shop - the sort that smells of incense & has chimes hanging from the ceiling, as they had loads of large square cotton scarves.
Hi Ladies
You can but buffs from Outdoor wear shops - you know the sort - the ones that sell tents, anoraks etc , they do stay on you head quite well but i have found my head it too big .
I have bought a fantastic pink Breast Care Awareness scarf from Asda - its quite large, very soft and a beautiful colour - its my favourite.

hya girlies
like clarey i dont have a lot to spend on headgear, but i used my own scarfs from asda etc, i put them over my head and tied the back then twisted the long bits and brought them back over the top of my head and tied them back behind my neck ,they hve never come off either although i do look a bit foreign but i dont mind, i also went on ebay and bought a fab wig for 12.99it really ace, i thought it would be cr+p , but its lovley although it does have combs attached, so i put a thin tie belt off my tunic top around my head and tuck the combs under, and hey presto never comes off, and i dont have any hair at the moment only bum fluff, lol!!, hope these tips help
