Hello from a scared newbie

Hi, I’ve been reading some of the threads and I can see you all give eachother such a lot of support and I admire all of you for staying strong and fighting this terrible disease.
I just thought I would say hello. I don’t know yet if I have BC but I found a hard lump yesterday in my right breast. Been to the docs today and seeing a specialist at the hosp tomorrow. Doc said it’s a hard lump about 3cm.
I am scared beyond belief and I just don’t know what to do to calm myself. I can’t seem to think straight and my mind is working overtime, going crazy.
I’m sure there are lots of threads like mine - lots of people have been through this terrible time of waiting not knowing anything, and I know I am lucky to have got an appt very soon.
Thank you for listening. I just had to write down how I’m feeling. Will see what tomorow brings. I may be here regularly.

Hi busybee65

Welcome to the Breast Cancer Care forums where I am sure you receive valuable support and advice very soon from your fellow forum users. I have added a link to a Breast Cancer Care publication called ‘Referral to a breast clinic’ which you may find helpful to read and please feel free to contact our confidential helpline, our team of specialist nurses are able to offer you further support, information and a ‘listening ear’. The helpline number is 0808 800 600 and it is open Monday to Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 9am-2pm.

Best wishes

Hi Busybee

There is absolutely nothing I can say to calm you down and put your mind at rest - the only thing that can do that is seeing specialist tomorrow and him/her giving you the all clear.

I just wanted to say you are not alone and the very best of luck for tomorrow. Let us know how you get on but in the nicest possible way - I hope we dont see you regularly on here after that!!!

Sending positive vibes and hugs

Hi busybee 65

Id just like to welcome you to this brilliant site where i know youll recieve lots of advice and support. I know its a very scarey time for you right now,but its good that you have got a quick appointment at the hospital so at least you will know what your dealing with. the waiting is the most difficult part as all of us know ,fingers crossed your results will good and you wont be joining us but if not we will all be here to support and help you .Is your hospital a one stop clinic? if it is you should get your results the same day. I know its easy to say but try not to worry to much yet as many lumps are benign . I was dx in july and am halfway through chemo at the min with radiation next then tomoxifin for 5 years but am feeling good and quite positive and the treatments realy are doable. il be keeping everything crossed for you for tomorrow and pleases let us know how you get on .All the best
lots of hugs
Lindiloo xx

Hi Busybee

Totally agree with all the others - hopefully you will not be joining us here…but if you do you can rest assured that you will be in the best of company. The folk on here realy know how to dish out first class advice, shoulders to cry on/scream at/laugh with…so please don’t ever feel alone.
I only joined at the beginning of this month, having been in a similar situation to yourself. As Lindiloo has said if yours is a one stop clinic, as mine was, they will do all tests and give you the results the same day. Your doc will be able to confirm if it is.
I was dx on 1 Nov, had further scans to check for spread (which were clear), then had mastecomy and have just had first chemo today. As you will see from the many threads on here, everyone is different, the treatment regimes are different - if necessary - and let’s hope not - the consultant will explain all that to you.

Please let us know how you get on - hopefully it will just be the one message to tell us all was ok and goodbye !!

take care

Hello, thank you so much for all your replies which really helped reassure me over the last day or so. I’m pleased to say that I was given the all clear today - it was a cyst. I know I am lucky, and many are not, but I am thinking of you all here and think you are all brave and strong. I am going to donate on a regular basis from now on to Breast Cancer Care and Cancer Research.

Busybee

Just caught up with the thread - I am so so happy for you - have a big smile on my face.

Congratulations and go and have a great big drink and enjoy your life

Take care and all the best
