help after radiation hi
i finished my radiation 2/5/06. i am now getting a rash all around that area, also just below the treated breast i have a swelling in my rib cage. has anybody had the same. i still have 2 cfm chemo left to go. but i am very worried and very low.

this can sometimes happen after rads it seem to get worse after your treatment as it is still active for up to 2 weeks after your last rads session , try some E45 cream or Aqueous cream thats what i used i finished my rads in feb and my ribs are still sore but if you are worried over the holidays you can always ring your bc nurse try not to use any soap or perfumed creams . hope this was some help

I also used aqueous cream, washed with it and applied it about 4 times a day. Also try and expose yourself to the air for a bit each day it really helped my skin. My ribs also ached but 6 weeks down the line I felt much better and my skin was great.
I notice that your also having chemo I ached all over when I had chemo do you think that maybe contributing to it?

sore too hi trudy, i too am very sore. i finished rads last thursday and now my skin has all broken under the breast and under my arm where the scar is. it was bleeding a bit today. was told not to put anything on it. they took a swab to see if was infected as it was a bit smelly. going to my docs tomorrow. im going to ireland on wednesday for a wedding, but dont know how im going to be able to wear a bra as it is very irritating!! i didnt have to have chemo so that is me finished now. started taking arimidex.

Wedding I’m so sorry your skin has proved a problem and so late in the day. I really thought you hade made it to the wedding without any problems - but it’s not too late yet. I was assured by my GP that they have some very good creams and you still have a little time to try to get enough respite from the irritation to enjoy the big day. A soft bra might belp too.

I’ll be thinking about you and I really hope things go well.

annie bust problem hi annie

I had the same problem under my bust. it was a bit smelly. what i did was just kept cleaning it, then made sure it was dry, then put johnsons baby talc on it, and within one week it completey cleared. good luck and have a great day at the wedding.

annie after radiation Hope you got sorted re breakdown in skin after treatment—I had a very bad weepy area ,not infected and used INTRA SITE GEL and MEPILIN dressings no bra but a vest!!!it took just over a week to clear and is fine now.best wishes to you—trish

Hi Annie Hiya,it was great to find someone exactly my age!!!Ive got 3 grandsons now its good fun isnt it.Ive got my cancer back after 10 yrs,finish Rdas on moday,they expect my scar area to break open.You sound v pos best to be that way,hope your soreness gets better soon…why did you change to arimidex? Look I would lve to keep in contact with you(the Grannie club) to be truthful I dont feel 51 even after all of this lol.Take care wont you.Debbie
