I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Sept 2006 and had a mastectomy in Oct 2006. I was lucky and didn’t need radio or chemo. I had my recon in August this year and thought I had done with hospitals for a while.
Now, following a bout of cystitis, I keep bleeding from the urethra after ‘wee ing’ and my GP has made an urgent referral to the hospital for me to have a camera inserted into my bladder (ouch!) He has put me on anti biotics, but it hasn’t had much effect.
Obviously I think the worst, although I am a fairly positive person and am trying to convince myself it is not too serious. Does everyone else get stressed everytime they have unexplained symptoms?
My appointment is 31st Dec, so at least I can start the new year knowing what the problem is.
Happy Christmas everyone. Let’s not let things stop us enjoying ourselves.

Hi Heidicat
I think we are all the same in thinking the worst - its only natural.
I had a cystoscopy - the test your away to get a few years back and was not nearly as bad as I thought it was gonna be - i was more painful cos they need a nice full bladder for it so was more uncomforatble cos I was desperate for a pee!!
Hopefully its just been irritated and turns out to be nothing
Will keep everything crossed - let us know how you get on
Take care

Hi Fiona, Thanks for your message. I was wondering whether I would need an empty or full bladder for the test. I have had no information through the post yet, probably because it is Christmas.
I am trying not to worry, and I am doing quite well most of the time, but it brings back all the feelings I had last year when I was waiting for the results of the breast cancer. It is like a black cloud hovering above me.
It was the ‘not knowing’ that was the worst thing then, and I suppose it is the same now. Once we know what we are up against it isn’t so bad.
I am determined not to let it spoil my Christmas. If everything turns out ok then I shall be really celebrating on New Years eve.
Have a good Christmas yourself. I will let you know the result.
Can you remember whether they told you at the time of the test what the problem was, or do they make you wait, and go back later?

I went for the test and everything was normal. Although they have passed me on to the renal deprtment to have my kidneys looked at now. The only bad thing was that the test re started my cystitis so I am back on anti biotics.
Happy /healthy new year everyone

Hi Heidicat
Really happy that things were normal - you must be smiling tonight - apart from the cystitis!!
Congratulations
