Hi everyone I so enjoy reading all the different threads. You guys are great and all. so brave. There is always something postive to make me smile on this site. Can anyone give me some tips on aches and pains. I felt very sore and stiff today when out walking, particularly my feet. I had to walk really slowly to the local Post Office, I felt I had aged 20 years overnight!! Im having 6xFEC and will be having number 3 next week. apart from that I have been very lucky and feel ok.
Just need reassurance that its normal and any tips would be gratefully received.
take care everyone and keep posting.
best wishes Shirley
Hi Shirley
Although a slightly older lady, before this rotten BC raised it ugly head I would have said that I was reasonably fit and nearly healthy. I have 5 young grandchildren to run around after, do Yoga and try to walk a lot.
I have had 4 xAC and 3 of 4 tax. I struggled to walk from the hospital back to my car on Wednesday. The few days immediately after my chemo when the pains in my legs are really bad and keeping me awake at night I do give in and take over the counter painkillers. I gradually ease them off and just live with the movement restrictions. Having read other threads on the same subject it would appear that given time normal painfree movement will come back given time. There we go again - waiting. I feel that sometimes one of the really hard part of all this that we have to deal with in the waiting for everything.
Take Care

Greetings Shirley.
Hi…I go on to Fec no4 next week & have experienced similar problems with my mobility.I am now 39 …but sometimes feel 139. I rest alot…but on good days get out for a walk.Walking may be slow…but to hell with it I am usually so glad to get out the house.I believe a bit of gentle walking may boost the immune system!!!
Best of luck with no 3…you will have reached the half way stage next week.
Keep going & best wishes

Hi Shirley,
I had TAC x6 which was killing on the joints! I was advised to take regular anti inflammatory pain relief like diclofenac or ibuprofen which helped.
The problem I have now, 3 months after finishing treatment is that my knees feel excessively painful, especially when trying to get up from the floor and going upstairs. I saw a physio yesterday and she explained that 6 months of not doing any exercise (like you I had great difficulty walking after treatments) has lead to my quads (in your thighs) weakening and not supporting my knees anymore! So I’m on an exercise regime now - infact, better go and do them!!

Hello ladies
I sympathise as I too am really suffering from aches and pains - mostly in one leg, one knee (which feels like its going to give way when I’ve been sitting and try to stand up), shoulders, arms and back. I find the pain really bad at night when trying to sleep, does anyone else find this?
Ive been seeing a physio and she said that chemo makes the liver and blood systems suffer so you don’t produce cortisol to aid inflammation, consequently she thinks its muscle and tendons which are aching.
The radiotherpay dr said its probably chemo, or possibly herceptin as these both have side effects that can take a few months to disappear.
What waitingangel says makes good sense, after 9 months of hardly any exercise so I suppose its get the exercise bike out and start walking - I do try to do a small walk each day but still find I haven’t got much energy.
I’m going to google cortisol to find out more.
Hope this might help reassure any of you, I’m not totally convinced myself but can see what they’re saying.
