Help , chemo delayed and I am worried

I had my chemo dates today and although my lumpectomy was 6 weeks ago, and oncologist told me this week that treatment would start on 1 Nov. However dates came through today and chemo will not start until 15 Nov (10 week after op).

I had clear mammogram in Nov 09 but by July 2010 it was 2cm Grade 3 BC. (only 30 weeks later)

I am worried this delay could mean the BC could have spread and getting a hold. All the booklets suggest that chemo will start within 6 weeks.

Hi, my Chemo started 8 weeks after surgery, no one seemed concerned about that time frame. X

Hi, my oncologist said I could leave it up to 12 weeks before I started chemo if I wanted too, hope that helps,

Thanks for your reply Belinda

I am concerned at how quick my BC caught hold last time and I feel any delays could reduce my chances of getting rid of this illness. There is nothing I can do but wait but would have preferred a call from a nurse or Doctor rather than a receptionist as I do not know what this means for me

Hi,

Maybe you could speak to your oncologist or perhaps the oncology nurse, it’s a horrible time all the waiting and decisions we have to make, the helpline on the site is wonderful, they are always happy to talk to you, really hope you can get started sooner to put your mind at rest, thinking of you,

I delayed mine due to imminent half term. My oncologist said that the research suggests that having chemo any time within 3 months has the same outcome.

Thanks everyone.

It is good to know I could wait a little longer.

I phoned my oncologist today and they have agreed to put the date back to 1st November so not long to wait.
