HELP - FEC vs TAC????

Hi Caro

I think if it was me I’d go for the TAC and crack it once and for all. As you know, I’ve had 3 FEC so far and really only the last one made me feel more sickly, but still managed to go out and about and wasn’t confined to bed. Everyone is differnt. The anti-sickness pills they give me work a treat and keep it at bay. As for the steroids I take 1 tablet for 2 days after the chemo and haven’t had any bad effects. Most ladies who have been through the 3rd generation regime say it is doable.

Hope this helps?

love
Jayney

Thanks again ladies. My hubby spoke to my oncologist yesterday regarding the steroids, and he said I’ve be given them intravenously on FEC or TAC, and that I’d be given tablets to take home which I don’t have to take if I don’t want to. I’m starting to sway towards having the TAC; hoping to phone my onc later today with a few questions then I’ll make final decision. Blimey, what a palava!

Love to you all.

Morning Caro, well isn’t it great to have a forum like this to hear what people think who have actually gone through the mill.
Update from me (on TAC) Hair falling out in all directions today (almost 2 weeks to the day of first chemo)which I was expecting, but still scarry and surreal when it actually happens. Booh Hoo!!!
BUT - went to see a lady today who sells comfy and light head gear for chemo patient and people with hair loss. I bought 4 different pieces and they are just GREAT!! Very smart and so light and comfy. No seams or labels to irritate.
She mainly sells online or postal order. Her website is
chemochic.co.uk it is really worth having a look and they are not very expensive. You can return them if they don’t suit you etc.
I was so please to pick these up as I will not have a wig for another 2 weeks!!
Hope my hairdresser can come over today and ‘do the deed’.

Good luck on choosing treatment Caro, I can only also say that I don’t think TAC is too terrible.
So far my face is as per normal despite the steroids and I did also feel pooh when I came off them, but you can ask onc to adjust doses. And the rest… well I can live with that.
