Help! Given Breast cancer support pack before diagnosis?

Hi all I’m new here.  I’m 32 years old and weeks ago I felt a solid lump in my breast.  Waited 2 weeks to see  if it was hormonal then saw a gp who said I was to young to worry and she could hardly feel anything and sent me away feeling stupid.

My partner pushed me to get a second opinion so 2 days later I saw my own doctor who said immediately something wasn’t right and referred me.

A mass showed on ultra sound (an uneven not smooth one) and I had  4 deep core biopsy samples taken which came back as B3?

My consultant then moved his surgeries around to fit me in for removal within a week of result (surgery was today)  but had also said the biopsy was ‘fine’.

Yet when I went to have the wire guide put in with the ultrasound I was presented with a Breast cancer sufferers support pack along with the phrase “here is some info for you”.

On my notes it says fibroadenoma but it doesn’t move freely under the skin it is well rooted in the muscle tissue.  And it’s listed as an urgent follow up required.

My consultant is very unforthcoming with information, I didn’t even see him today and didn’t know the b3 result until the pre op nurse mentioned it.

I’m so confused as to why I’m being told everything is ‘fine’ yet being listed as urgent and given cancer support info.  The results won’t be back for 3 weeks and I can’t take any more!

Does anyone else have a similar experience or any words of wisdom please?

Thanks x

Hi Beccy I’m not surprised you are confused.I think unfortunately you fall into that category of “we are not really sure what’s going on here”,I read that B3 biopsy results can mean cancer is a small percentage of women and I’m guessing they don’t know til they test the lump they removed and get the results back.Did they give you the number of a breast care nurse,if so you should ring that number and ask for some more information about your diagnosis.Hope all turns out well for you .Jill.

Thanks Jill, as far as I know I don’t have a breast care nurse but I’ll enquire about one x

If you ring the Breast Care Unit where they did the biopsy , they may be able to put you through to the nurses who may be able to answer your queries Terrible that they didn’t explain properly what was going on to you .

I’ll do that thanks ?

Hope you get some answers ,other port of call would be G.P who will have had letters from hospital re your diagnosis.Waiting is the pits.
