Today I have had by becker expander implant expanded with saline. This is the second time I have had it expanded, the first time was not a problem.
I have been back at home now for a couple of hours and it is definately leaking out of the port. The saline inside the expander has been dyed blue (so the surgeon can tell he was in the implant), and I now have a small amount of blue liquid coming out of the dressing and onto my tshirt.
Hs anyone had this before, if so what was the result?
soz you are having to deal wiht this doesnt sound good hope you get sorted soon. ive been once for expansion and couldnt get it to expand, some went into body but just dispersed.
You are understandably worried, perhaps you should give your medical team a quick call to discuss your concerns. If they’re not available today, maybe you could try our helpline, they are open until 2pm today.
Just in case anyone else has a similar problem, I thought I would post the outcome of this.
Apparently the valves in the port have failed, this means that they cannot expand it anymore, and it could continue to leak. It also means that at some point in the next few months they will need to remove the expander and replace it with either another expander, or just an implant.
Not really very happy about this, but yet again it is another thing that is out of my control.
