help, need some advice please hello all, i’m new to this site and posted a question 2 days ago, but i think it was on the wrong forum ?anyhow i wondered if anyone has similar problems to me with zolodex injections. i had 2yrs of zolodex ( that was 18mths ago now ) 4 yrs of tamoxifen, apart from the usual side effects ie: joint ache/ flushes i had tremendous pain when ever we tried to have intercourse, i thought with having been off it now things would have eased, my periods came back more or less straight away, but i can’t even use tampons anymore. Last month my oncologist said i would need another 3yrs of zolodex and a drug beginning with A ? and last week i went for a smear and they could’nt do it because i was in agony, i never had a problem before starting zolodex, i knew it would be bad but not this painful and lubricants do nothing, has anyone else experianced this, i have to go back to my doctor next week to discuss it?? i’m quite anxious, help…

Hi,
If you go on the “living with breast cancer” forum and go to page 2 you will find a topic called painful sex/vaginal dryness. You will very quickly realise that you are not alone and get lots of info.
I’ve been to my GP and have been prescribed Replens and when I spoke to my Onc about it he said that although I’m ER+ve I can use hormone pessaries. So I’ll be going back to my GP.
I had the same problem when I tried to have a smear done, terrible pain, which is a bit of a worry as I’m supposed to have them anually due to previous abnormal cells. Thats when she prescribed me replens.

thank you so much, i never realised how many of us there are , i’m concerned their could be something else wrong with me ‘downstairs’ as i’ve not been given an internal since my last smear 5yrs ago, but this site is so helpful and reassuring i just wish i had used it 4yrs ago when i was first diagnosed with BC especially on my darker days, and theres no-one to talk to or understands what we’re going thru, thank you once again
