help needed please

hi hope anyone can help me. new to this so i hope i am posting this in the right place. i will try to keep this short and sweet. my mum was diagnosed in march with breast cancer. she had a lumpectomy, lymph glands removed followed by six weeks of radiotherapy. she has been incredibly brave and positive throughout and a huge inspiration to anyone that knows her. recently she organised a pink night and raised over 800 pounds. in a couple of weeks she is taking part in a fashion show for cancer awareness which is amazing as prior to having cancer my mum suffered panic attacks going to the shops. as well as being in the show my mum is sponsoring one of the scenes. she has been asked to write some words to accompany the scene. we are finding it difficult to find the right words to say. if anyone has any inspirational words or ideas i would be very grateful thankyou

Hi Millysmum,

Firstly I would like to say a congratulations and thank you to your mum. She has done really well in her journey so far and the money raised helps not just those already affected by BC, but will also help reduce the number who could be affected via research.

I expect you are both having difficulty in finding words because you are modest. Not many people like to acknowledge the good work they do as its seems such a natural thing to do.

Sincere words come from within, perhaps you can just start by just thinking of individual words that describe the journey your mum has made. Maybe start with a line on a piece of paper left hand side denotes the start of the journey and follow the line with the milestones such as diagnosis, treatment, fund raising, fashion show and hopes for the future. Once the individual words come out perhaps you can build on explaining them.
or
Perhaps you can have four headings
a)What you are both thinking.
b) What you are both feeling
c)What you are both saying
d) What you are both doing
Make notes on these and see if any inspiration comes out.
The second method is used in business to bring about change but I have used it lots of situations, particularly in solving problems or planning for the future.

I also think if you read through some of the threads you will see many inspirational thoughts from various people. One thread has many entries about the insensitive things people say. It has a great deal of laughs. If you click on ‘Discussions’ and trawl down I am sure you will find it.

Good luck

Carol
