I had a check up with my onco on Wednedsday and the results aren’t good, spread in bones, and also the soft tissue around my lower sacrilliac joint, small tumor in liver and small tumor in lungs as you can imagine am devestated. Am starting aromasin as I have responded well in the past (got 4 years with Letrozole) it is thought I will have a good response with this. Going back to see my consultant in a month. My question is has anyone else got similar mets and have a good response with aromasin??
Hi Kiwigirl, am so sorry to hear your news and completely understand how devastated you must be feeling. But we are all here and will try to help you through it. Take a look at one of the threads which is called “Anyone with liver mets” and there is a great gang of us that chat and 5 of us actually met up a week ago in London, which was really good for all of us.
I can’t help with aromasin, as just finished chemo last Nov and am now on Herceptin, had 2 lots so far. But hope your treatment has good results for you and keep posting on here and let us know how you are doing.
Hi Kiwigirl,
I am another of the liver mets girls, I’m sorry to hear your news, it must have been a big shock. I am 41 and have been started on Zoladex injections to stop my periods
( not that i’ve had many of those since I got my Dx). I will then start on one of the AI’s but not sure which one it will be Letrozole and Aromasin have both been mentioned. They tried Tamoxifen but it didn’t work at all.
Take care,
Allie
Hi kiwi
I thought i had posted a reply but not here so I will try again…I am sorry to hear your results…I really know how you feel, I am 43 and have liver and bone mets, really still cant believe it. It is terrible that we have to go through this.
it makes sense they want to try you on aromasim before trying something else, you had such a good response to hormonals before so it sound like this should work.
If you have to move on to chemo - well its doable, lots of us on the liver secondaries thread have just finished, i am on number 4 taxotere, it really can be done. Done chemo this morning and worked all afternoon, I can tell you all the ladies I met looked pretty good for it !A re you having bisophonates as well?..these can work really well on bone spread.
Thanks everyone for your replies. As you all say it is just going to take some getting used to…if you get my drift. Cathy, amazed that you had chemo in the morning and worked in the afternoon that has taken a little of the fear away for the moment. Will join you on the liver secondaries thread if that’s ok, will be nice to chat to others who understand.
