Hi I have just had opp to remove 2.3cm lump also blocked duct that had cancer cells in and node clearence 2 large nodes i know 1 has cancer in as it showed up on scan.Iam so scared about the nodes being positive I have been looking for reasurence on the internet but have only scared myself even more.My mum died of breast cancer 27 years ago and I feel that I am going to die I have a wonderfull family but feel totaly alone.I am waiting for my results and can not see anyway forward.Im 45.
oh melly
i think we have all done that, read too much - and been quite indiscriminate about it too! After surgery you’re probably a bit low anyway. Too late to tell you to only read the sites you can trust etc but, cancer treatment has come on a long way in 27 years, a very long way. Your Mum’s cancer may have been very aggressive, or she may not have noticed the lump for a long time - but it is not your cancer, yours is right here and now in 2007 and treatment is much better. I expect to see you here in 27 years time telling everyone that once upon a time people were scared of breast cancer!
Hope you feel better soon and that your wounds heal fast
hugs

It is very hard, perhaps one of the hardest parts of this awful disease, just waiting for results. Also very hard to not let your mind wonder down all sorts of unwelcome routes. You need to remember that when you lost your mum 27 years ago that is quite a long time in terms of cancer treatments. There have been many improvements, many new drugs in that time. I was diagnosed at just the age you are now - 45, and that was 17 years ago. Yes my ride has been quite a bumpy one (bit of a pun there!) and I have need a lot of treatments etc. but with all the new stuff around now they have kept me going. Just hang in there and I hope you will be getting the results soon so you will know what comes next. Come back and let us know as soon as you do and if you need to ask questions there are lots of us here to help and support you through it.
I’m just posting now to let you know of a few things you might find helpful, here is a link to a booklet for anyone recently diagnosed, it will provide you with information about your diagnosis and treatments you may undergo:
