Hi
Her2 negative means your cancer does not over produce a the her2 protein and simply means herceptin ( which is an iv infusion) would be of no benefit to you.
They test the tumour to decide on which treatments you need and if your tumour had come back as her2 positive, you would have needed herceptin. The other tests would find out the grade, hormone status, size and node involvement. All these things will help your team come up with a treatment plan.
Good luck

Hi Midge
Thanks for getting back to me. Is it “better” to be negative or positive. I just heard the word negative and thought that must be good, but not so sure now.
Hi there Kelly
Just wanted to drop you a line to suggest you give the Helpline a ring if you need a bit of clarity with anything.
They can offer support and information as well as a listening ear if necessary and they can also point you to other sources of help and information.
The number is 0808 800 6000, they’re open Weekdays 9-5 and Saturday 9-2.
Best wishes

Hi
It’s swings and roundabouts. I am her 2 positive and I know that this means it is an aggressive cancer ( but the word aggressive gets used a lot) but there is treatment available to deal with it ( hopefully).
I suggest you go through your diagnosis with your breast care nurse and discuss what treatment plan is in place for your cancer.
Take care
