Thank you so much for the advice… most of the time i am okay just having a bad few days i think… i feel mentally drained and exhausted. I not been on the moving on course yet, i am seeing my nurse in a few week to discuss it with her. Not in the bristol area im in south yorkshire.
Just been a bit paranoid last few days and letting the negative thoughts push in… then i keep reminding my self on my good result and the statistics of her2. Ahh… x
@kartoffel
Your little pup is lovely they are such good company and are such a help to us aren’t they. I have 2 boxers and they just love to sit with me.
Your experience sounds like mine I really couldn’t believe the calipers after they had sent me for a mri. I still don’t see what he was gaining by measuring with them I just wish he had given me a few minutes to explain. Xx
I am feeling very proud of myself this weekend. I have always been a park runner but since my diagnosis I have been walking rather than running. Well yesterday was the first day since my diagnosis that I felt strong enough to start running it again, not all of it about one third but either way I ran!! I cried at the end because I felt so happy with my achievement and to feel more like myself again! If anyone else would like to walk or run, the final Saturday of each month is 5k your way which is all about supporting those either currently going through treatment or finished treatment. It’s such a great atmosphere and a great sense of support to help you move.
This picture of me I think really captures my joy and I hope shows that there is a way to enjoy the things you have enjoyed before cancer again
If anyone wants any help to find a run local to you please do drop me a DM and I can point you in the right direction.
I am sure you all know how exercise a proven to help with side effects and reduce recurrence. Walk or run, any distance or any time, any exercise is brilliant
That’s amazing! You look so strong, thanks for the Monday inspiration x
@galdiolus how is it that you look so good in a run photo? I also did my local parkrun with 5k your way this past weekend and I will not be sharing any photos. Was lovely to chat all the way around to one of the other ladies and I managed to nearly nab a course PB without even trying. If I had known I was only 14 seconds off my PB, I probably would have stop talking for a minute and sprinted it out…
If there’s anyone local to Marlow, come join me next month! We’re trying to get a parkwalk record apparently, so you don’t even have to run if you don’t want to!
Afternoon all
@woody2 I’m sorry to hear that there is some new anxiety to be dealing with. If you aren’t HER2+ then please don’t leave us. You will still be an honorary member of the gang. I would like to hug my surgeon too. Good for you! My brows and lashes took longer to come back than my hair but are now almost back to how they were before chemo. It’s taken 8 months since the last chemo to get them to where they are now. Top lashes much better than bottom ones.
@carrie5 - It might not be in your nature to make a fuss but it sounds like they aren’t on top of things where you are having treatment and you are going to have to be on their case.
@jeml - You’ve done such a great job of keeping your spirits up while going through this sh*t show and I just wonder whether it’s all just suddenly caught up with you. AND you’ve done it with a little one in tow. You’re allowed a bit of time to feel bad and I send you positivity and strength to get back to your sunny self again soon. My right shoulder area that had the node clearance often aches. I have to stop typing and do my exercises a few times a day. I’ve not noticed if it’s hotter than the other side but I will start to check.
@arty1 When and if I pluck up the courage to go blue, you’ll be the first to know. Once again, my husband burst out laughing this morning when I was trying to be sympathetic about his workload. Yes, my hair looked like my Aunty Rita in the 1970s but still. It cheered him up, I suppose. Let me know how Only Fans goes for you and I’ll consider giving in my notice at the IT firm.
@mrsjelly Your dog is beautiful and so is yours @kartoffel. Our dog has us in the palm of her paws. She threw up on our bed on Friday night and we slept through it. We made a firm decision on Saturday morning to make her sleep in her bed and stop feeding her so many treats. Yes, she slept on our bed Saturday night and ate as many Mothering Sunday smoked salmon and cucumber sandwiches as the rest of the family. It’s not going well so far. I awoke this morning to find her head firmly stuck to mine. What can I say…I adore her. Instant happiness. Most of the time.
@gromit12 @galdiolus Amazing…fantastic…wonderful…inspiring…LOVE IT!! What hope you give to us all. Thank you.
Salbert
xx
Also, to anyone else who has shit nails. I tried out builder gel (BIAB) a few weeks ago and haven’t broken a nail since! Gonna keep this up for the rest of my treatment because it’s so much nicer to not have your nails ripping off when you do crazy things like take off your seat belt.
@galdiolus - you amazing human You !!! What a fantastic achievement!! I’ll confess I wasn’t fit and was overweight pre cancer … sadly Chemo has destroyed my thyroid and ive piled on two stone — Today I walked 7 thousand steps and I feel like I’m going to die so I’m amazed and in awe of you !!!
@gromit12 I need a lie down just reading your post . You are incredible !
@kartoffel love that… I have been in a situation where I have had a lovely meander and then realised I could of had a PB. Still I always say 5k is 5k no matter how fast or leisurely you do it x
@arty1 7k steps is amazing!!! Please don’t feel like I am your bench mark, I was a runner well before all this and I am excited by any amount of movement any one of us can do
@galdiolus I couldn’t even run for a bus pre cancer . Long Covid slaughtered me , but I am inspired , I want to get my physical fitness up again as I feel so exhausted all the time and despite counting calories etc I’ve still put on another two pounds this week … I’m setting a target of 10 k steps a day … I’m hoping that once my next thyroid screen comes back they’ll increase my thyroxine
@norts amazing!! I am so happy I inspired you and on such a beautiful day too. Well done for getting out there xx
@galdiolus well done, you should be proud! And I have to say, your picture looks the exact same as a place called The Lines by where I live!
We are all amazing for just getting on and doing stuff. Whether it’s raising our families, caring for pets, exercise (in whatever form), supporting each other, working, experiencing joy and bringing joy to others and so much more. Basically, we all rock!
You look amazing and well done! We have to get back to the things we loved before Cancer… it does not define us!
