Glad all went well @salbert. Good to have you back. Well done for going for a walk. I think the muffins were essential.
@salbert Glad op went well, and you have your āNewā boobs! Best wishes for a speedy recovery x
Good to hear from you @salbert and read you post again, happy your operation went well and itās not surprising anymore from some hospitals to act like that.
Best of luck recovering sending hugs
Iām 12 of 15 on the radiotherapy train and itās been ok so far. Very few side effects so far. They gave me Flamigel for my skin which has worked well. Iām just starting to get a bit whacked with fatigue and have a bit of a sore throat but other than that all good. Compared to all the rest itās a breeze!
Congratulations on a successful surgery @salbert ! Here is to more health and happiness from here on!
Glad you are ok @salbert and op went well, i was beginning to worry as you had been quiet. They do try and chuck you out as soon as possible so well done for hanging on for an extra few hours. I went home the same day, although my op was in the morning. At first i was horrified at this prospect but once pain under control i was glad to get home to my own bed. I was black and blue, which didnt come out for a few days so dont be surprised if the bruising gets worse before it gets better. Keep up with Netflix and cake and enjoy the rest. Sending gentle hugs.
Nice to here from @mrsjelly - havent heard from you for a while, gret post.
With regard to radiotherapy i was given the choice of 5 or 15 days! Semed bizarre but apparently similar amount of radiation bit 5 days condensed so perhaps more risk of side effects, i chose 5 but had minimal side effects.
And sheās back in full form @salbert no holding you back. So pleased the surgery went well and that you pushed to stay in a bit longer. Are we calling you Mrs Posh Boobs now?
Take care and rest.

I was reminded of Jo Taylor from @abcdiagnosis and @metupuk on instagram about signs of secondary for those with ductal or lobular primary breast cancer. Jo was awarded the British Empire Medal in 2025 for her work with breast cancer awareness.![]()

Iām going to Leeds for Endure 24 (thatās running as many 5 mile loops as you can in 24 hours)- 2 days after final chemo! Then have the Gower 50km in July and the South West 50km in August. Madness I know but all deferred from last year ![]()

Hello everyone , does anyone get late results on the app from there blood test before chemo, today I woke up on some blood test from 3 weeks ago of my chemo and I will have next one in two days.
The weird thing is platelets weāre soo low 72 (before chemo weāre 210) and normal range is 150, but the nurse proceed with my chemo any way and I had baaad week smashed for 5 days until now still feeling week.
Do you think itās normal ?anyone had low platelets and they still proceed with chemotherapy?
Note: I have rectal bleeding as well and my oncologist prescribed be a steroid foam.
@gromit12 @kartoffel as always inspired by your ambition and fitness, love reading your posts. Look forward to pics all in good time. @hasnae87 when is your sister next visiting? Sounds like she was really encouraging. @salbert hope recovery continues well. Was weighing up the afternoon tea bcn fundraiser -alongside the great British weather. Pāing down just now here, wonder how many people could cram under a gazebo, only doing outdoors stuff for now - feels safest. Also researching a different park run for future, found 5kyw not too far away, may have to wait for dog to recover from Fridayās surgery, could take the other dog but 5k her way likely to involve carrying 5 kilos of dachshund most of the 5k! Just trying to get info out of my consultant at my review this morning on where other goodies fit in when Iāve done my 5 remaining paxi sessions. Radiotherapy heās saying start 2-3 weeks after for 10 sessions. Sounds like second half of July. Just after getting a bit of my life back! Very best wishes to all.
@hasnae87 just spotted your message, sorry youāre so tired, I hope someone with similar experience can help. Hope little one ok and giving you the odd break.
Hello Carrie, my little one is fine today his dad decided to take him out for me to rest more as itās mid term so he get bored at home.
Thank you for asking, hope you doing well
Hope your dog surgery will go well and good to hear that you spending time outside even with the bad weather.
Sorry to hear that they will hit you with radiotherapy straight away, maybe for the best to finish the 10 session in 2 weeks and start to relax more.
Good day to one and all
Normal service resumed here. Iām back working from home for 2 weeks which is good in some ways (not rushing to get out of bed and to the office) but not in others (feels a bit lonely and a return to last year). No matter as itās only temporary.
For those of you suffering from scabby nostrils and believing it to be a side effect of chemo or Herceptin/Phesgo, I discovered on Friday that mine was due to staphylococcus aureus infection for which I was given Bactroban cream. It has cleared up instantly. It was discovered due to the hospital swabs so Iām glad these were done and it has been eradicated.
Thanks for all your lovely messages. Iām feeling better today than yesterday so am definitely on the up. @pennyp Thanks for that tip re the bruising getting worse first because itās done exactly that. Iām not at my most attractive but like to think itās a work in progress. Cake and Netflix prescription gratefully received.
@woody2 The Flamigel is great stuff, isnāt it. Youāre almost there now. Youād better look for a bench.
@naughty_boob You may call me Mrs Posh Boobs. Absolutely! ![]()
@gromit12 Of course you already had your own 50kās planned.
Your madness is inspirational.
@hasnae87 My blood test results always had to come through on the same day that I had them done before they would give me chemo. Is it possible that your oncologist is getting them but they arenāt showing up on the app for a while? I have had low platelets before but not too low to proceed. Iām so pleased your husband has taken the little one out today to give you some time to relax.
@carrie5 My local pub have said they will host the afternoon tea and Iām going to run the games. Also a friend has said he will do the music as he has a vinyl collection of songs from the musicals so I absolutely had to say yes to that offer. Whether anyone will come is a different matter but hopefully theyāll feel they have to! How is your dog doing? My dog keeps leaping onto my new boobs and my husband comes running every time he hears me screech. Sheās a bit of a bull in a china shop. A Staffordshire bull in a china shop!
@sooz1 - How are you, darling? Youāve been on my mind constantly.
And now I had better shower and do something with my head before my 2pm conference call. I cannot believe I have to have one of those today and tomorrow, thereby stopping me from spending the day in pyjamas and with full-on make-up-less chemo bouffant head. Drat!
Salbert
xx
@carrie5 youāve got a daxie as well? I wish I could run with our little girl but sheās still a baby so it would involve me carrying her most of the way around as well
Iāve already put on a few kilos through treatment, so I donāt need an extra 5 kg of wiggly puppy to contend with as well!
@salbert the dog thing is why Iām not looking forward to having my reconstruction. Aforementioned wiggly puppy likes to stand on my boobs and aggressive lick my nostrils and ears.
Dear @hasnae87 , as much as I know, the doctor is supposed to delay the infusion in case of a platelet count . Low platelets can be quite dangerous and lead to thrombocytopenia, your rectal bleeding could be because of that. Did you check in with the A&E and did they order you a blood test before prescribing the medicine. Ideally you should know about your bloodworks on the day of he infusion and it is usually written down in the records in front of you . Please check in with you hospital and your breast cancer nurse and she may be able to guide you. Fo not hesitate to contact the PALS department in your hospital. Take very good care and keep us updated please. Sending you healthy and healing vibes
Congratulations @gromit12 ! You Kadcyla warrior! Sending you lots of health and healing wishes and a big big congratulatory hug! You smashed it!
Thank you @sms for your kind wishes, my oncologist said that she also couldnāt see them but because the chemo ward went ahead with chemo she assumed that they were ok.
I think something was wrong with the app which weird.
I am having a flash back and my third round of chemo was soo tough that I struggled even while walking and for the medicine my oncologist prescribed it for me last week as i asked to see her coz I was feeling rubbish mentally and physically.
If you donāt mind what is PALS
Dear @hasnae87 - I am so sorry you had to go through this. I really hope you find better care and accountability for your next infusion and care plan.
PALS is (Patient Advice and Liaison Service). PALS offers confidential advice, support and information on health-related matters in the NHS. They provide a point of contact for patients, their families and their carers. You can find it in your local hospital. They can help you with health-related questions,
help resolve concerns or problems when youāre using the NHS or tell you how to get more involved in your own healthcare. It also helps with the NHS complaints procedure, including how to get independent unbiased help if you want to make a complaint, provide support groups outside the NHS etc. You can find your nearest PALS office on the NHS website or your hospital webpage.
If youāre not happy with an NHS service, you can make a complaint.
You can complain with regards to the person or the organisation / hospital providing that service, such as the GP, dentist, oncologist, nurse, hospital or pharmacist or anyone on your care team.
