HER2+ and need some buddies

Hello everyone

Good to hear from you @sassy3 and I’m glad we’ve been here with you all along, even when you haven’t been able to post. That’s the idea; that we are all in it together and nobody feels too lonely. You are almost there with the chemo so that’s your first bell ring or bench slap coming up. Post a pic if you can so we can celebrate with you.

@knock-knock Good call re the Cancer Haircare online session. I did that too and I think her name is Jasmine. She was excellent and I got some great tips from her. I purchased my Hat with Hair as a result and I loved and relied upon it.

@jan30 my heart goes out to you. It’s always disappointing for the people who are told there is residual cancer after chemo and surgery. However, it’s not uncommon. We hear it lots on here. I had 2 positive lymph nodes so had to go back for axillary clearance and there were no more that were cancerous. I do personally know somebody who had 18 positive nodes. She is now 7 years post-treatment with clear scans. You’re allowed to cry and process this news, it’s ok. But know that you are not alone. I have now come across so many women who this happened to and they’ve all been ok. Sending you love and strength. Sometimes we get the stuffing punched out of us on this journey, but we always climb back up again. Here if you need us.

Thank you @Salbert This journey is indeed a rollercoaster with far too many ups and downs. In my most difficult moments, reading the earlier posts on this thread has been incredibly encouraging and comforting. I’m so grateful for the support and solidarity in this wonderful group. Hopefully, I’ll be given a surgery date soon — one step at a time.

Hi @jan30 thank you for your reply I know how worried you will be I understand after what we go through. I find it really helps to read the posts on here I have learnt so much that I would otherwise have not been aware of. Hopefully it will only be the one lymph node. I had 4 lymph nodes with cancer and my surgeon said the chemo obliterated it in 3 of them but they have found a few cancer cells in the 4th one. I spiralled when they told me this but I too have been reading posts on here and seen where this has happened to others and they are ok. I too will be starting Kadcyla after radiotherapy and it sounds like it is very effective.
It really would be lovely if it was like your son asked “you’ve had your treatments and surgery you’re cured now” for us all.

Just saw this and it made me think of the discussion in this thread:

Also, if anyone was tempted by the last Cancer in Common event but couldn’t make it, there’s another one coming up in London in October. This one is a fundraiser for CinC, so there is a charge for the ticket this time around but it’s for a good cause! Cancer in Common Fundraising Event | Cancer in Common

I have arrived in Samos! My first holiday in 2 years, I am so happy to be here. I am standing on the balcony of my room overlooking the bay :ocean::airplane::sailboat:

@gromit12 have a wonderful break.
@jan30 just catching up with your situation, that’s tough, you are incredibly brave and focussed, and as the others say, you can have a cry/ let go some tension as best you can. Do hope you get a date for action soon.
@hasnae87 , how are you?
Good wishes all.

@kartoffel that quote resonates with me for sure. Very true and something we would all do well to remember. I can’t make that next CinC event as it’s my birthday weekend and we are planning to shoot off straight after I finish teaching that morning. I will never forget the feeling of being in a room of women who’ve had/have cancer yelling out ‘I Will Survive’. It still makes me smile.

@gromit12 I can see how good you feel to be on holiday and it’s lovely to see that. Try not to run 50 miles. Do some solid relaxing, swimming, eating and drinking. It looks beautiful and I may be a mild shade of green. That said, we are off to our beloved West Wittering once my husband gets home from work this evening.

I hope you all get some relaxation in the sunshine this weekend.

@salbert Ah shame, I’m sure your birthday celebrations will be fun as well but it’d be hard to top hanging out with me :rofl: If you tell @gromit12 to not run 50 miles, she’ll probably only run 30 miles then :wink:

I hope there will be some relaxation in the cards for me this weekend, I need it after the stress of my dad being here for a visit. My Garmin was yelling at me because it was pretty much on high stress levels for 6 days… :laughing:

I saw my oncologist today and he’s happy with my MRI scan, so that’s a positive. He does want to switch me from Tamoxifen to AIs. I forgot to write down which one he wants me to start with - think it was Exemestane? Has anyone switched from Tamoxifen to AIs? I need to do my research on whether or not I want to make the switch. He seems to think that it’ll give me a better chance at avoiding recurrence.

Hi ladies. Thankyou all very much. Feeling better today. I had my eyebrows done and I love them. Never had them done before and never put make up on them so its lovely to see them look so shaped aha. I wanted to have them done as soon as because I’ll be starting chemo first to shrink my bad lump. Had my Mri yesterday and a clip inserted (that bloomin hurt) so now fingers crossed they dont find anything else and we can crack on with getting rid. My tummys going just thinking about the scan results. Xx

I had my 1 year mammogram and ultrasound on Wednesday. She seems happy and will get a call on Monday with my mammogram results. I had my seroma drained again for the 5th time (60ml). So relieved!

I remember this feeling so well. I had been told all the way through that I had one positive node so had an axillary clearance with my mastectomy and then immediately after surgery my surgeon said there was lots of fibrosis and we would have to wait for pathology to see about the others. I was knocked for six and it was the longest three weeks waiting for my results appointment imagining all of them could be cancerous. In the end of twenty removed it was just the one. My youngest son also viewed surgery as the ‘all fixed’ point so completely understand how tricky that is. Sending positivity your way xx

@molly.m hey so sorry to read you are on this journey but be reassured we are all here to listen and support you.
IN regard to eyebrows, I had mine microbladed before I started chemo and I was so happy I did. I highly recommend it if you are able to xx
