Finally after 5 weeks of reading all the threads here and on Macmillan I’ve joined both sites. I’m 45 live in Glasgow and have recently been diagnosed with HER2+ o+p+ It’s now been over 5 weeks and I’m getting a little anxious to when my treatment will start. Have a meeting with the oncologist next week and although I’m dreading it I’m also desperate for chemo to start. My brain is going at a million miles a minute though - where do you buy wigs in Glasgow, what else will I actually need for chemo etc. And I’ve gone from loving food to being frightened that anything everything I eat will encourage eostrogen production.
Hopefully will feel a little more in the know after appt
Is there anyone on here also HER2+ oestrogen+ progesterone +
Hi Silver
Just seen your post. I don’t come on here so often now but I was in your situation over 2 years ago now. A very similar diagnosis with her2+ and er+.
I was 46 at the time. I am doing fine . Had FecT and herception and am now on Tamoxifen for 10 years.
You will be given ( or ask for)a wig voucher code from your hospital. Your bc nurse can also give you a list of wig specialists you can use in the area. If you live in Scotland you are entitled to a synthetic wig for free. They are just as good as real hair type and are easier to care for if you are feeling poorly. Just wash in sink shake and leave to dry, voila !! ? I used Parrucche in Glasgow. I found them to be very kind and helpful. You would call and make an apt first.
Don’t worry about food just try and eat a nutritious diet. I remember pineapple sticks frozen or icecream was soothing if your mouth got sore. The only thing I try to avoid is soya based foods. But do ask when you see your oncologist to put your mind at rest.
I recommend the monthly chemo starters thread on this site . You could have a look at April 19 starters, all starting their chemo journey together and sharing tips or having a good rant to understanding ears.
I was a nervous wreck at your stage, it’s a long road and you will come through and out the other side .
Sending hugs
