Here we go again

I was diagnosed with BC in 2003 and had WLE plus radiotherapy then Tamoxifen, which I still take. I now have lymphoedema in the affected breast.
I just wanted to tell somebody who understands that I have found a new lump in the other breast and it feels like here we go again. I feel a bit down because there seems to be no end to this constant checkup thing. I have a routine appointment on 9th Jan with my onc so I will probably just leave everything alone until then. I’m just sitting here wondering about the New Year - will it be happy or will it disappear into a blur of surgery and treatments. Thanks for listening. I really needed a whinge! Lol!

Hi Kate

yes I can well imagine your heart sinking to your boots, to find another lump, and yes I do agree it seems to be a merry go round of treatment and check ups. I am glad, however, that you have an appointment on 9th and get it sorted, I am quite new to all this, am just recovering from WLE but it seems to me from reading all the posts on the Forum that actually this thing never “goes away”, we have to be vigilant, but hey, you have done it once and I am proud of you that you aren’t shying away from tackling it again!

Thanks Louise. It helps such a lot to know that people are reading your posts and taking time to reply. I don’t feel so on my own now. I’m sorry that you are going through the WLE and yes, it does feel like it never goes away. When I was first diagnosed my BCN told me that BC was a ‘rough ride’ and she has been proved right so many times now. Thanks for listening and I wish you well in your recovery.

Hi Kate,

I’m sorry you’ve got this worry, yes bc is a rough ride and the worry never does quite go away. Last year I found another lump and imagined the worse, it turned out to be quite harmless - a fat necrosis which according to my consultant is quite common in women taking hormonals. Let us know how you get on, I want you to know I’m thinking about you xxx

Thanks Helen. I had a scan this time last year and the doc said I had two lumps which were fatty tissue. This one is quite deep and further in but I am hoping it is just another of the same. I have an appointment next Wednesday so hopefully will know a bit more by then. Thanks for kind thoughts

Hi Kate and Helen,

I found a lump in my reconstruction a few weeks ago - have had FNA and core biopsy (yesterday) but the general concensus it’s fat necrosis - and I’ve been on tamoxifen since September. Get results next Tuesday, but I’m feeling pretty confident now. Just wanted to say, it’s so horrible having to wait and imagining the worst - fingers crossed for you Kate - let us all know - thinking of you.

Kate

Good luck for next Wednesday. Let’s hope it’s just fatty tissue again.
Will be thinking of you.
