Hey I’m back

Hi

I thought I’d pop on with an update - after laying low over the weekend after last Wednesday’s surgery.

All going well, I did have some side affects from the antibiotics- but, phoned 111 incase I needed to do extra as I’d had surgery- but followed the usual advice before they had phoned back.

I managed a few laps of the garden this morning and afternoon- which isn’t huge, but good to get some fresh air.

I have done plenty of resting and a few naps.

Not slept as much as I had thought so am very aware I need to rest and walk round the house. I have my check up on Wednesday.

Just been keeping up with ibuprofen and paracetamol.

Thankful I got a mastectomy pillow as my cat has enjoyed laying on it! Which is the reason I bought it as a guard.

Haha of course your cat has taken a liking to the pillow!

Glad to hear you are taking things slow and steady  You are still very early days but you will start seeing a slow improvement each day

Thanks .

Hi @hen , good that you are doing well.

How are you getting on with the exercises? I have had conflicting info from surgeon / BCN. One said dont do 8 and 9 after a week / the other said don’t… Called the BCN to clarify and she just said that its maybe because you have stitches not to do the other ones.. confusing!

Also - has anyone else had PICO 7 dressing? I had therapeutic mammoplasty and SN removed.

Hi Jolou.

I had mammoplasty and lymph node biopsy and reduction on the opposite side.
So I was told to do exercises 1-5

I have an appointment tomorrow for wound check.

My arm is tingly, and feels like it’s rubbing on my skin - but I can’t see it’s red, so I’ve got a sanitary towel folded to help it from skin to skin rubbing as not sure what I can use. I’ll ask tomorrow.

I don’t know what dressing names I have, I just know it’s internal stitches, then glue I think, then steristrips and then tape!

I’m sure I’ll be told more tomorrow.

How are you getting on otherwise ?

You are dealing with both sides then - must be sore. I feel sore under arm but breast feels ok.

The dressing is ‘PICO Single-Use Negative Pressure Wound Therapy system** ** It’s a portable, battery-powered device that connects to a special dressing’.

had to google that! so am attached to a little device. I dont go back to see surgeon until next week.

Otherwise am getting on ok - have been out with the dog (shes an old lady) for a gentle walk every day, so far so good. Getting anxious about results next week.

I hope you get on ok tomorrow - is it to check healing?

Oh that sounds fancy. I don’t have that.

We will all have our fingers crossed for you for next week and all the good vibes.

Right breast has been more noticeable than left, but nothing like I imagined. Under arm is more annoying with pain, but manageable again.

Yes, tomorrow is wound check. Fingers crossed I don’t need drains.

I’m taking myself slowly off pain meds - or at least going longer if I can.

It’s weird how we all get quite different things isnt it.

I am saying its results - but its my first appt with surgeon since, so maybe to check healing too. Yes I a not on as much paracetamol / ibuprofen today.

Hope you get on ok - and no drains are needed!
