Hi - anyone in the Swindon area?

Hello - is here anyone in Swindon who would like to chat and possibly meet up in the future? I’ve just had op a week ago and feeling at a bit of a loss - normally work full time so at the moment I am so Bored - daytime television is definitely not all it’s cracked up to be! Would love to hear from anyone locally in similar situation - thanks

Hello Daisyboo

I’m also from swindon, but am further down the line than you, I had my surgery a year ago last march and finished all my treatment at the end of November.
Went back to work january this year but I do agree day time telly is dire!!! How are you feeling after your surgery? Do you know whether you need chemo and rads?
Take care julie x

Hi Julie

At last … I had given up hope of hearing from anyone

So how are you a year down the line then? Back to work is good news for you I hope.

I get my results this Thursday so don’t know yet what type of treatment I’ll need - fingers crossed just the radiotherapy.

How about you? Did you need chemo? More importantly how do you feel a year down the line?

It’s a complex roller coaster of emotions isn’t it?

I went to lunch with a couple of guys from work yesterday and then we nipped back into the office. Most people said that I looked really well - some I thought sounded a little disappointed! what a weird disease, even though you feel like crap you still look remarkably normal on the outside. Someone asked if I was coming back now that the op was done. Overall though had a great day yesterday, bit tired today and obviously really really nervous about Thursday - still hasn’t put me off my food though!

Take care - and thanks for responding

Hi Daisboo

Yes I had chemo and rads finished end November, can’t say it was pleasant but I got through it and now feel pretty well back to normal. I have just had further surgery to my reconstructed breast as it had gone very hard due to the radiotherapy it feels so much better now, I have a follow up appointment tomorrow… what time is your appointment we may see each other! Mine is at 2.30.
If we don’t I really hope your results are good and you only need rads. The wait for results is horrible isn’t it!
Well good luck and hope to hear from you soon …

Hi Lynda and Julie

Great to hear from you both - and I hope you’re getting on okay at work.

Julie - my appointment isn’t until 4 o’clock so will probably miss each other which is a shame. That and the fact that I’ve only just logged back on doesn’t help - sorry :frowning:

Do you both work in town? Perhaps we could meet up one lunch hour and go for an all you can eat at a bargain price Chinese? I guess you have both been to chemo.

Julie - this may be coincidence but I heard recently of another lady called Julie who works for the same organisation that I do - but in another division. I don’t know if we’re allowed to mention company names etc on the forum but it begins with H so you don’t need to a rocket scientist to work that one out.

Speak to you both again I hope.

Take care x

Would like to exchange experiences with other younger women in swindon area, diagnosed feb2010!
