Hi everyone,
This site gives me hope, in the fact that maybe someone understands what I am trying to say, as I feel like a freak.
I have large painless swelling in one of my armpits and up to the crease in my upper arm and breast. Antibiotics and anti inflamitory cream has not helped. My husband reckons cause in overweight it is just fat, but it only came up a month ago in my left armpit and is slowly increasing in size. I have an appointment at the breast clinic in three weeks time. Has anyone else suffered from any one these symtoms?

Hi helsangels
So sorry you are going through this worrying time. Three weeks seems a bit long to wait, would it be possible to ring them and see if they can fit you in sooner. You must be climbing the walls. Good luck for when you go to your appointment.

Thank you Poemsgalore,
And yes I am climbing the walls, the wait is due one of the downsides of living in the North of Scotland where we only have two breast centre clinics within 125 miles radius servicing a lot of people. I am glad I have found this site though, it is helping to keep me sane.
oh my dear,
doesn’t the waiting suck when you are anxious about something! So sorry your husband is seemingly less than supportive.
Unfortunately we all go through this hurry up and wait thing (often repeatedly), and it is the pits when you really cannot think about anything else. Maybe it is worth trying to get the appointment brought forward if you explain to both the clinic and to your family doc just how stressed out you are. If not, do you have any girl friends yoy can let off steam to?
We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that it turns out to be nothing to worry about, but whatever the outcome, let us know as there is loads of support on this site.
And finally, you are NOT a freak!!!
Thank you both for your posts it has greatly helped me not to feel soooooo isolated.
Over the last couple of weeks I have strained to continue getting on with life and I did visit my doctor last week to see if I could get my appointment moved forward as I have new symptons. However she said that there was a back log and I would just have to wait, she did say the swelling had become a bit more thicker, and I now have a stabbing pain in my underarm, pain in my chest wall under my left breast and pain in my mid bone between my breast and can only wear a soft material bra now, she did another breast exam and still cannot find any lumps as such, just the large swelling, so does not think it is anything to worry about. She said that I must have hurt myself but I havn’t. In the last couple of weeks I have also been suffereing from horrific sweats, not just at night but also during the day. Sorry for moaning, really hoping it is nothing but the waiting is a nightmare. Another 9 days to wait, by the time I go to my appoinment it will have been six weeks since I noticed the swelling.
Don’t worry about moaning, that’s what these forums are for. It seems to me that you have good reason to moan, waiting 6 weeks sounds awful. I do hope you get some answers soon.
