hello all,about 6 weeks ago i noticed an achyy feeling in my breast and underneath my armpit was quite painful.Then just over 2 weeks ago a red/purple bruise type mark appeared on my breast.I visited my dr who examined me and immediately refered me to the breast clinic.In the meantime my breast has become very swollen,painfull with a white area on my areola.The bruise type mark has faded but is still visable and now feels very thick and numb.My breast is really painful and my armpit feels quite swollen too.
Yesterday however was my breast clinic appt.I had a mamo and a ultra sound scan and both were normal.I was adviced that if symptoms persist to return to my gp who will refer me back to the breast clinic.I dont know if i should “wait” and see if symptoms go away or return to my gp asap.Any advice is greatly appriciated.

Hello Dee 1234, On the face of it, with clear scans (phew! fantastic news!), it sounds like it could be an infection, does your boob feel warm/hot at all? Plainly there is something not normal whatever it is, so I’d get straight back to the GP , you may need some weapons grade anti-biotics to clear it up. If your GPs is like most you’ll probably have to wait a week or so before you can get in anyway, and having the appointment already booked will give you peace of mind !
