hi just over 2 weeks ago a red/purple bruise like mark appeared on my breast.I went to my gp the following day and after examing me he immediately refered me to a breat clinic.Over the following 2 weeks symptoms became worse.Itchy,swollen breast with pain and an achy feeling.Also un my arm is painfull and feels swollen.Yesterday i had my breast clinic appt and had a mamo and scan but both came back clear.I was told if symptoms persist to go back to my gp and he/she will refer me back to breast clinic.Today i went to my gp who examind my breast and said there’s swelling in my breast and under my arm and also commented on the rash and the discolouration on my skin.She then said that she would like to treat me with antibiotics.If they dont work to go back in 1 week.I have heard so many stories and i’m very scared.This is getting worse and now i dont know what to do.Any advice would be greatfull appreciated.

I can’t answer your questions I’m afraid, but you are doing everything right. A week must seem like forever but if it is an infection it should respond in that time. Do make sure you go back to your doctor and shout loudly if you need to in order to get a satisfactory answer.

just wanted to update you.I’ve almost finished a weeks course of antbiotics and no improvement with the symptoms.Now my breast feels hot too.I went back to my gp today and she talked about something called fat necrosis.But i said i want to return to breast clinic and have biopsy.She said she would cantact the breast consultant i saw and ask if she’ll see me again.I searched fat necrosis online and doesnt sound anything like what’s happening to my breast.I also called the advice number above and taken their advice i called breast consultants secretary and got appointment for 20 august.Now i wait again…
