Hi everyone.I had a hickman line put in on 10may and so far ok until this week.I was under Docetaxel(Taxotere) last month but i developed a severe allergic reaction,lots of rashes,so Oncologists changed my chemo regime to Paclitaxel(Taxol) last week.As much as Hickman line is convenient, my chemo for tomorrow is cancelled due to my Hickman line infection…so I am on 7days antibiotics before they resume my Taxol.I heard that some people are prone to infection having the infection…but hey ho…I became one of those people…I am very careful at cleaning and dressing the exit of the line…
Anybody else experiencing Hickman line infection or soreness?

Thanks…I can only think that now I got 2 weeks delay…so far…but I look at it positively that it is better to sort out any side effects or complications before getting on with another session.As this is my second Primary in 3 yrears…started with my right breast cancer Nov2005, I guess,I go with the natural flow of things…where it takes me with good information and professional guidance.Its just my immunity has been battered for the last 3 years…the antibiotics seems to be working,mind you,only been 2 days…so far ,got soreness and stiffness but i tend to exercise and move it …it gets better…
