Hi Maz
Hope you are feeling better today and the pain is easing. I know it seems a long wait for results, but hang on in there.
I am enjoying a few weeks holiday from work, it is a year since my op and when I think back I was wondering how I was going to get on with the chemo and rads, and here I am a year later feeling really well. Just think that will be you next year.

hi my names dolly i was diagnosed in december 2010 as having high grade dcis in situ had lumpectomy and now had planning session for rt that goes ahead now on april 27th bit nervouse been a bit of a scary journey
Hi Dolly
I had a similar history to you; except my DCIS was low grade. I need 2 ops to get clear margins and 4 weeks ago finished my 3 weeks rads due to size of DCIS/family/my age.
I know I was nervous going for rads as all through earlier surgery they advised porbably not needed; then it was.
Anyway the planning session whether on CT scanner or a simulator should go very smoothly. I was planned on a CT scanner; first though a nurse took me all through skin care during/after treatment. Other possible side effects. Was a little funny for me when she asked me to undertake I wouldn’t become pregnant (I’m 51 & on cusp of menopause).
In CT scanner for approx 20 mins whilst they measure you up. Staff very nice and supportive. The “tatoos” were not very painful; worst 1 is the one in cleveage. I asked to see my scan which they did when completed.
I had 15 sessions and although I did have some SE (sore nipp. spots. burning) the radiologists were great giving you advice all the way through your treatments.
Had my follow up appt with my Onc last Friday and she was really pleased with the way I’m healing. Still a little sore & Nipp is peeling like no tomorrow.
I found it useful to write down any questions I had and started to use the aqueous cream the week before treatment so it had become routine before I started. I managed to work through and have been fortunate not to get too tired. I did go on half-days for the final week.
I wish you well
Take care
Lynne
