IM HIGH RISK FOR BREAST CANCER AND THINKING ABOUT A DOUBLE MASTECOMY JUST WANTED TO CHAT TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE IT DONE REALLY
Hi Edgie & welcome to the forums.
I am at high risk of bc, although no gene has been identified in our family yet. My mum was diagnosed aged 52, and two of her sisters were diagnosed (and unfortunately passed away) in their 40’s.
Like you I am thinking of having prophylactic bilateral mastectomies, probably sometime within the next 7 years I think.
I’m sure you’ll get loads of advice on here.
take care
Justine

Hi Edgey
sorry to meet you on BCC as none of us want to be here really but we are and have to make the best decisions for us.
I had my genetic appt today unfortunately she couldnt get blood so i am off to the clinic to see if they can get the sample.(result of chemo)
Seeing consultant end of April for another mastectomy.
I have a strong family history of this horrid disease.
I do worry more about secondaries to bones and other organs than the other breast getting cancer though.
