Hello there
After DX last may, masectomy, chemo, rads Tamoxifen & Herceptin (7 more to go) 2 teenagers and a work away husband I am am ready for a holiday and although it is not booked yet I am hoping to go in between 13th & 14th herceptin. I would like to know if anyone has any Travel Insurance tips for me.
Cheers Heather xxx
Hi Heather
Have you got your European Health Insurance Card? Check out what is covered where. This costs you nothing. I am off to Scandinavia this summer, got a cheapo travel insurance with my flight booking which does not cover pre-existing conditions. If something did happen I am covered one way or another. I only had surgery, rads and now on Tamoxifen, but better safe…
Hope you have a great holiday, Alice
Hi
I managed to get insuranfe with Columbus and they cover the cancer. Good luck and have a brill holiday.
Hi Heather,
Have you asked your BCN or chemo centre as I know info is around from Macmillan centres or chemo units, for those of us who want to travel abroad while having treatment?
I made enquiries this week and got a sheet of addresses but I haven’t phoned any of them yet as I don’t know where I’m going. However I have 2 children with diabetes and I phone around until I get the best deal in order to get them covered. I never buy insurance from the travel agent, too expensive and too many exclusions.
I hope that helps, Have a lovely time wherever you go.
Hi Heather,
I had a mastectomy and reconstruction in November 2006 and we took out travel insurance with More Than in July 2007 for a holiday this July. They included the cancer in the cover and we didn’t have to pay massively over the odds for it.
I then had a recurrence in October 2007 and we had to postpone the holiday. They still provided the cover and didn’t charge us too much for changing the dates.
Worth a look?
Hazel

You may find it useful to have a look at the BCC fact sheet on travel insurance. It ca be found by following the link below:-

Hi Heather,
I got travel insurance from Co-operative Bank at a good rate. They exclude anything that may arise from bc, but did cover me for everything else.
Hi All
I got travel insurance from Insure Pink, very reasonable and all cancer related problems are covered too!!
