Tomorrow we fly out to Kos for my well awaited holiday, but last night we had a bbq. I rushing around as you do, and tripped and landed on top of the burning chiminea. Luckily a friend grabbed me before the whole thing fell on top of me. I have burns to both legs, but one leg has a four inch by three inch gaping burn.
I had to go to A & E today and I had a tetanus, had it cleaned and dressed and was given antibiotics. The nasty nurse, almost took great pleasure telling me I could not go in the water on holiday for about a week. To say I was fed up is an understatement. I managed to get what can only be described as a large condom for my leg at a hefty price of £20, but I should be able to swim with it on. Its agony and really seems to be the final straw and I knew if anyone would understand how fed up I am it would be you guys!
Hey SG what a bummer!!! It never rains eh?? I feel for you IT ALL SUCKS!!! I too go on hol this week I never believed 6 months ago it would happen!!! It is our 13th wedding anniversary tomorrow and today I wouldn’t let the kids go on the bouncy castle in case of accidents!!! not because I am superstitious, I’m not; but ‘sods law’ seems to have been running amok round here this year!!

SG… I have to say I don’t generally posess good insight, it’s just that my little boy (9) is autistic and dyspraxic and so has a tendency to be a little clumsy!!! so it’s just 9 years of experience!! JX

Made me laugh about the condom - I think of that when I wrap my PICC arm in cling film when I have a shower.

hi lilly, hope i aint missed you , what a crap thing to happen , but dont let it spoil your holls, you do have to keep burns dry , but go to the chemist at kos and see if there is anything you can spray on to the burn to protect it … beware of the sun tho … ahh im so sorry this happened to you, the last thing you need is for it to become infected, im sure you can get a plastic skin spray , and use that when its dry , enjoy your holiday, chin up hunny xxx

Crap!! though the thought of a condom large enough to cover a leg has amused me. Please go and have a great holiday, your injury does mean that you have to rest on a sunbed and let others bring you food and drink.

Could kill my OH just now - I have a month now between chemo and Rads, so wanted to book a short break in the sun, but he made it clear he did not want to go to any of the places I suggested, so we have ended up with a 4 night stay in Kent (his choice) starting Saturday. What is the weather forcast - yes cold and wet. Its not as if it is a question of cost - the hotel in Kent is more expensive than the hotel I wanted in Barcelona…so fed up, stamp stamp stamp!!! sorry but this year has sent me straight back to the nursery!

Can only really sympathise. You are entitled to your hissy fit - I think I myself would have said you go to Kent, I’ll go to Barcelona!
We need our mid treatment breaks like never before, and I know what you mean about cost. I started looking at UK breaks between surgery and rads and ended up on a week’s cruise (with balcony) which was cheaper than a few days in a posh hotel in Scotland.
Still, hope your break is good, and you get to Barcelona after the rads.
Hi TLB, we will be staying 4 nights in Canterbury and taking time to explore the area as I don’t know it at all. I am calmer now, and back to looking forward to it, as I am sure the area is lovely!! - should never have looked at the 10 day forcast that I did, we all know that they are not reliable beyond 24 hours anyway!
Just having a bit of a silly “feel sorry myself” day I think.
local weather reported tomorrow as 27 degress but chance of thunder storms in the morning…Canterbury is a lovely city and there are plenty of things to do in and around the area…I live about 20 miles away on the coast and can highly recommend Broadstairs as a day trip - takes about 25 minutes directly on the train…you’ll have a great time!
