Yes you must You will find that in the small print of all travel insurance polcies you must declare breast cancer. If you don’t and you try to claim you could find the whole policy invalidated even if you were not claiming for something breast cancer related.
You can get cover for breast cancer but it can be expensive. Two companies which are reasoanble are Marrs and Freedom Travel.
Or you can decide to risk not getting insurance to cover breast cancer and then this will be written as an exclusion on your policy. In the early days after my primary diagnois I always used to pay out for extra insurance just in case (not just about being ill on holiday but getting cancellation insurance), but I have been to Europe a few times without extra insurance. Now I’ve got a regional recurrence I know it will be harder to get cover. I would never now risk going to USA without cancer insurance but in EU counties I feel pretty ‘safe’ if an emergency happened beacuse of EU reciprocal healtth agreements.

I wonder if i didnt declare the breast cancer but had something like a DVT the fact i take tamoxifen and it can be a side affect of that make the insurance invalid.
Anyone can get a DVT i suppose on a flight.
I am scared to go abroad since DX and yet its our 25th wedding anniv this year and i would love to go to Austria.

Unfortunately you do still have to declare it, just in case of the scenarios which Jane RA mentioned. I was dx in 2005 and had problems getting cover for anything related to bc so as it was just a shorthaul flight I took basic cover and made sure I did loads of exercises, walked around, took aspirin and wore flight socks (advice of my bc nurse). I didn’t think I was going to have an emergency bc moment in the week I was away!
I’ve just (today, in fact) got cover with Bradford and Bingley as I’d seen it somewhere before on this site. £41 for a week in Italy - a bit more expensive than normal but covered for bc related stuff too, so I didn’t think it was too bad. They apparently don’t count the recon surgery I had in April as it’s not actually treatment for bc itself. I was quite pleased to actually find someone to cover me for bc at all! Good luck.
