Hi Ladies,
well it seems we are stuck between a rock and a hard place !! I have just heard on the news they are now saying women taking hormone therapy for bc have up to a 40% chance of developing ovarian cancer when we are copeing with the side effects of the chosen drug be it tamoxifen or other this is not what we want to hear… I myself have many times thought of giving up the Tam due to dreadful side effects but have kept on as the thought of the bc returning due to me stopping would be unbearable , but after hearing this it makes your mind go into overdrive again… it just never stops does it
Love to all x

Hi Lottie
I understood it to be about ladies taking HRT therapies to alleviate menopausal symptoms. We are taking therapies to stop the production of oestrogen which is very different…they are taking drugs to promote the oestrogen
I had a cyst on my ovaries; so when they removed the cyst they removed both ovaries …so am now on anasrazole.
Tamoxifen also has increased risk of developing cancer of the uterus …so should have regular checks and report any symptoms
I guess its the same with all the treatments we have had…radiotherapy and chemo…all have side effects but the benefits outweigh the risks
We just have to keep positive…and push this to the back of our minds along with all the other things that would push us over the edge
