Hot flushes

Hi All

My hot flushes, especially during the night are becoming unbearable. I’m not aware of having slept a wink last night! Does anyone know if Sage is a good supplement to take? It is a mile phyto oestrogen apparently, but will this harm my treatment as I am very oestrogen positive.

Any suggestions welcome, I just want to sleep!

Not sure about the sage Cecelia. I do know that my hot flushes are unbearable in the night for the first week after the chemo. Once I have stopped the anti-sickness and got over the first week they seem to be more under control. I think it is the combo of drugs,. Not sure if this helps?
If you find a cure then let me know and I will try it

Thanks Jewjew

Maybe it’s the steroid anti sickness drugs, I did take those last week due to nausea from antibiotics.

It’s hellish isn’t it?

I’ll let you know if I find a solution.

Had advice from a friend of mine who has been plagued by hot flushes. she said try a cobber neck wrap. apparently you soak them in water and they stay cool for 3 days and you just place the scraf round your neck. i have attached i link to one which i have just ordered. I will report back when i have tried it out, but she reckons they are fantastic and has even slept in it and got a goods nights sleep! definately worth a try.

Got mine now, it is brilliant, stays cool for days and keeps you really cool at night. My friend even uses hers at work under her shirt if needed, she just keeps it in her bag and if she feels a flush coming on she just pops it on. Worth a try.

Hi all,
I’m suffering too! I think mine’s hormonal due to my ovaries being blasted by the chemo, as my periods have stopped. It seemed to peak a couple of months into chemo, and is a bit better now (been having chemo for 5 months and 3 months still to go - don’t ask!)
Just to say, you can get those ‘cobbers’ from the Cotswold outdoor shop, if you have one near. I got one last year for an exotic trip to Belize, for trekking in the jungle! I’ll have to hunt it out and try it again - never thought of using it for hot flushes! great idea
Hope you find some relief
