How do you answer this GP

Hi, my breast care team sorted my dexa scan out as the consultant originally prescribed my letrozole then asked my gp to carry on prescribing it. I am being put on an open pathway from sept so will get in touch with breast care team if i have any worries. My dexa scan showed i already have osteoporosis and consultant recommended alendronic acid but i told my gp i wasnt happy going on it as i already suffer from acid reflux, was referred to ruematology clinic who have said i can have zolendronic infusion every 12 months instead which i am happy to have. Have been put on adcal d3 as well.

As others have said, shocking attitude from GP. Take it further - find out who to complain to, and get in touch with your oncologist with this information. I’m well into post-surgery/chemo/radiotherapy treatment but still seen monthly by oncologist to monitor long-term use of Letrozole and Abemaciclib. (This is Birmingham.) I dread being ever thrown on to the mercies of the GP system - have no confidence I’d ever get an appointment for a start, or that they would have the expertise to deal with complex, ever-developing cancer treatments. Keep on pushing for the oncologist. Poor you - such bad treatment by the system and individuals.

Hi @nannabee

Definitely worth changing to another GP in your practice. We were under a GP who had a couldn’t give a dam attitude. After speaking to the practice manager she readily agreed to change us and since then all has been good.

Sounds like you really need good support, hope you find it soon

Gosh that has got me so angry on your behalf!

The best thing you can do is seek a more knowledgeable and understanding GP.

I definitely have had different side effects with different brands and was able to specify what i needed.

And everyone knows diet and exercise can improve bone health.

Jeeeze…give that GP the elbow xxxx
