How long before radio starts?

Hi All
Just a simple question. How long after chemo can/should radiotherapy start? I had my last chemo just over 4 weeks ago and have been measured now feel ready to start.
I know there are all kinds of factors such as waiting lists etc. but ideally how quickly should you start.
I’m getting anxious and feel when I’m on treatment I’m being active about my recovery not just sitting back.

Any ideas? what have your experiences been like in terms of waiting times?

Thanks in anticipation. I’ve phoned the hospital and they said my plan isn’t with them and they can’t give me a date until they get it.

Hate the waiting - feel all those bad little cells are busy and need zapped.

I think I had 7 weeks gap between chemo and radiotherapy. I expected it to be 4 - 5 weeks but assumed there wasn’t a problem with waiting an extra couple of weeks.

Good luck
Anne

Thanks Anne
that makes me feel a bit better - now I know that a bit of a wait is OK

Take care

Hi

I am concerned about the same thing, I saw my Onc today and as I have cording from my mastectomy and lymph node clearance, (I had chemo pre op) they have to wait and see how it goes with that and my arm movement.

Don’t want the little cells to get too busy either! But they assure me that it’s a short wait either way and shouldn’t be a problem. I have my Tamoxifen to start popping though so that should keep me reassured for a while (if that’s the word!)

I should add that I am 3 weeks post op now.

Mine will be about 8 weeks to marking up by the time I get there. Apparently they are a bit busy at the mo. (The consultant said they were a bit quiet so shows how much he knows…)
