Hi ladies surgery went really well . I was in High Dependancy Unit for 3 days. Op saturday moved on Tuesday. Everybody said they could 't believe how well I was. Off morphine after first day. Off wee bag thing 2nd day. Got rid of 2 drains 3rd day. Told 3rd drain may come out 4th day. I was so happy sore but happy. I was asked to go to surgeons office at 3 today a porter was suppose to collect me but didn’t arrive, so they asked if fit enought to walk. Yes of course got there as we do. Then bomb hit me . Not 2 lumps anymore 3. No lymphs involved, WRONG. Masectomy went well , recon went well, BUT more tests to see how far travelled. What next and chemo. Left hospital with drain still in. Go back in morning hope to get removed. Why How How so wrong love deb x

HI again Deb. First of all, welcome home, I’m so glad that the op itself went so well and that you are making such a good recovery. Even though you were feeling pretty good when you went along to see the surgeon, the fact is that you have just had a major, major op and are now dealing with the after effects of anaesthetic, pain, body change, drain… the lot. In other words you are bound to be incredibly vulnerable right now. That’s why being told anything you didn’t expect seems just too much to bear and you think how can this be happening and as though it is one unending nightmare. As far as the three lumps, not two. In my case I had three lumps (and two satellite ones), not one. They just had not showed up on mammogram or ultrasound, and although it’s hard to understand, it does happen sometimes. The most important thing to hold on to is that they are now OUT of your body. As to the lymph nodes, I’m not sure from your posting whether you have had all, or some, removed - presumably that’s how they know they were affected. Again, no one can ever be sure until the pathology is done. If you are advised to have chemotherapy it will be with the aim of “mopping up” any cells that might have gone around the body. A shock when you weren’t expecting it, but once you are strong again from your surgery, you will manage to get through it, and find other people here to share the experience with. (I had chemo for 6 cycles - not fun, but definitely “do-able”. So please, please don’t “lose faith” in the team that are looking after you. Just take one day at a time - what really matters now is getting your strength back from the op, making a full recovery, and then you will be able to find out more and take the next step. So sorry you have to deal with all this, but you WILL get through it, and we will all be here for you. Big big (gentle) hug and love Sarah x

Nice to have you back Debs

It’s never easy is it? Never seems to be straight forward, BUT they’ve found it, they’re dealing with it. As you know I had my lymph node thing as none after the op, then the path report was amended to 4/14 without informing anyone - an astude doctor noticed a 3rd path report in my notes…

youd have had chemo anyway - just a different one now - one that ‘fits’ - think of it as taking back something that was just too tight to slip into something that does the job.

i start my chemo today. in about 2 hours actually!!

thinking of you

Big love Td xxx

welcome home Debs. Sorry about the news. As Seabird says the chemo is mopping up what MAY have spread. I have had that said to me as my lump cme back grade 3. The other quote I’ve had is ITS ABELT AND BRACES PROCEDURE. So I bought a new belt, pair of brace (from charity shop) and am on the lookout for a dish mop, to take with me for the treatment.
