How long from diagnosis to surgery? Feel I'm treading water...just!

Hi
Received my diagnosis last Thursday and was wondering people’s experience of his long you waited for surgery? Feel I’ve just been sent out into the big wide world, with my folder and am treading water. I just want it out now!!

Didn’t they tell you when your surgery will be? My wife’s lumpectomy and node removal was a week later x

No! I’m having a scan tomorrow and they said I’ll hear soon, should be within two weeks!!? Think I’ll ring tomorrow. I just need it gone! A week is good, could cope with that. X

Of course, matters where you live! Yes, the waiting the worst! I’m already feeling more positive than I was last week mind you but the anxiety now building again slowly. X

Op date through! Phew! X

When is it for? X

23rd Sept x

How is your wife now? Is she recovering well?

She’s slowly recovering thanks. We got the bus to the supermarket today and scared someone would knock into her! x

Hi Bonnie74

i feel the same way, I got my diagnosis Monday, I have been told that my surgery will be within 5 weeks. This depends on further scans though. Have they offered you partial reconstruction at the same time?

Hi Suki
My situation changed quite quickly after scan results. Organs and bone scan clear but did show a tiny area on one lymph nodes near collarbone. After much discussion with the surgeon, who advised a neo-adjuvant approach would be the best way forward. (chemo first) I’ve had a marker put in my breast as my lump small and had my first cycle of chemo 1st October. I will still have the same surgery but after chemo instead. Here’s hoping you get a date soon!
