My BC nurse rang me last week to let me know my oncotype test had come back high, because of that she said the oncologist who I see Wednesday will want me to have chemo.
How long is it after first seeing the oncologist will I be likely to begin?

My Oncologist was pretty flexible within reason. He was happy for me to start the week after seeing him but we had booked a few days away so I postponed it for a week and he was totally fine with that. I think I ended up starting mine approx 2 weeks after initial meeting.

After seeing the oncologist I had a phone call inviting me to a pre-chemo chat. That is when they go through all your rights at work, give you your red card, tell you all the bits and pieces about infection risk etc. It was at that appointment that we set up my schedule. I had a preference for Friday morning and I was given the next available Friday 9 am slot.
When you go for your chemo chat ask them if you can have a PICC line fitted. That will make your life so much easier. A PICC line is a semi permanent port just above your elbow.
