Well girls, TAX 2 was not as bad as TAX1 so am on the steroids and ready for TAX 3 tomorrow, my last one. Wish me luck!
Westside Sue - how are you now that it is a few weeks since your last one?
Bad news today, my Mum is in hospital with a heart problem which the drugs she is being given are not helping. She already has a pacemaker. Am worried, but she lives 1 hour plane ride or 3 hour ferry crossing + 4 hour drive from me, so not possible to visit at the moment.
And my 4 year old daughter fell off the bannister yesterday and hit her head and broke her little finger.
As if I am not seeing enough of hospitals at the moment.
Sorry to hear about your Mum and daughter, what a time! Pleased to hear your tax 2 was better than tax1. I ended up in hospital and really wiped out by tax1 so am dreading tax2 on wednesday, still hopeful after you saying tax2 wasn’t as bad for you. Hope your tax3 goes well tomorrow, must be a gr8 feeling when you have finished the last chemo.

Hi Kinden, hope your 3rd n last Tax went ok today? My 2nd tomorrrow, been warned that if I have a reaction to the drug it is most likely to be on 2nd dose…looking forward to it being this time tomorrow! Is that your treatment finished Kinden?

Yeh, that’s my chemo done, just got to get through the side effects of this one. Oesophagus is really sore - got no sleep at all last night as couldn’t lie down. Hope it’ll be better tonight. Am knackered, so off to bed shortly, with 6 x the usual dose of Omeprazole (on Drs advice) in me I hope to sleep.

Oesophagus thing sounds awful, hope medicine worked and you managed to sleep. Pleased my 2nd tax is done and without allergic reaction…Phew! Reduced my dose by 25% after ending up in hospital last time, so I’m hoping this time I’ll be better, although am paranoid about catching cold as all 3 of my boys have started with coughs and colds this week! What timing! Am trying to get as many vitamins in as poss, actually wondered whether I should get a mask…maybe I am paranoid lol!!! I just really dont want to pick anything up and end up in hospital again.

I got about 6 hours sleep last night, so felt great this morning. Just going into the post-steroid low now so v tired and achy, but knowing it’s the last one is a big psychological boost.
Hope you don’t catch what your boys have got, and get some rest too.

Think I’m a day behind you Kinden and just hitting the post steroid low…slept for 3 hrs whilst boys were at school today! last time worst symptoms started on Saturady so bit nervous, but hoping that I will be better as they have reduced the tax dose this time. Hoping I’ll be up for XFactor boot camp tomorrow night!!!

Sorry to come on just to moan, but this one is at least as bad as TAX 1 for me. My temperature was 38.2 for a lot of the night and has been hovering around 37 today. The joint pains are the worst I’ve had, and I feel like I’m being stabbed in the heart among other places. My hands feel seized up and my nails are so sore I can hardly do anything, my knees are unwilling to let me get up!
Managed to escape my girls (age 4 and 2) for a couple of hours today and have a rest; if I’m in the house they always want me, which is lovely usually. Had a nice cuddle on the sofa with them when I got back. OH doesn’t know what to do with me being so weak.
Keep telling myself it’s only a few more days then chemo is done, and relative to a lot of others on here I am lucky.
Hope your side effects aren’t too overwhelming this time

sorry to hear you are having a hard time, hope by the time you are reading this you are feeling much better and over the worst of SE’s. i’ve been in bed most of weekend, not enough energy to do anything, infact I got up a couple of hours ago and had a shower so spose things are looking up! I reckon This Tax must be good if it makes us feel so bad…it must be doing it’s stuff. I’ve heard it referred to on this site as ‘the domestos of chemos’ and ‘the gold seal’ so when I’m feeling wiped out I try and keep that in mind. Got an hr and half before my boys are due home so going for another rest in the hope that I have enough energy for making tea and playing when they get in! Hope you are ok.

I wasn’t too bad yesterday, so probably did too much as today I have felt worse again. Did get 2hrs snooze this afternoon though whilst girls as school and nursery.
It’s really affecting my arms this time, as well as my whole alimentary canal, from mouth to bum. Everytime it hurts a lot somewhere, I’m thinking that it is the drugs doing there worst to cancer cells that had the audacity to be roaming in that part of my body!
Hope your boys haven’t worn you out too much, and we all get a good night’s sleep (my 2 year old is not sleeping all that well at the moment).

Hope SE’s have worn off and you managed to get some sleep. Worth asking for something for stomach if it doesnt settle I know I had something when I was on AC chemo that really helped with gastric problems. i’m feeling like my batteries are beginning to recharge today, let’s hope we’re now over the worst of the SE’s.

Hi Kinden wondering how you are? Hopefully a lot better and SE’s have worn off. I’m back to ok and out and about but still really tired, or am I just getting lazy?
Anyone else seem to have tiredness for MANY days when having Tax?

Mine have subsided a lot now, still have pains and aches and sore feet and nails, bad oesophagus and guts, and seriously tired, but otherwise ok! I am heaps better than this time last week and delighted that I don’t have to do this again.
