How quickly can things change...?

Hi ladies
just after a bit of advice please. I’m stage 4 triple neg (see profile) currently on carboplatin for spread to superclav nodes. Scan after 3 cycles jst 3 weeks ago showed a great response. Nodes shrunk massively (around 70% shrinkage)+ no sign of progression. Organs clear (phew). Obviously delighted + relieved 2 say the least
anyway, had 4th treatment last wk + since then have been having regular aching in liver region. Also, lots of pain + strange itching to chest wall where I had extensive surgerry + rads for skin mets. I really feel they’re flaring up again but could things change so quickly + drastically after a ct just 3 weeks ago??
Honest replies please ladies- debating whether to contact my onc but I’m sure she’ll just want to ‘monitor’ anyway…
Thanks in advance, as ever
tina xx

Hi Tina,

I am only a primaries person and not TN so not in any position of expertise at all but I’m sure your BCN and Oncs would be fine for you to go and get checked out if your worried? x

Have you not had things flare up quickly in the past? If so, you will know that it can and does happen-even when on treatment which has produced some originally promising results, progression can still become apparent in other areas. As you’ve just had a CT, you won’t get another, so not sure what to suggest-other than leave it for a few weeks and see if it resolves.

Thanks Mary grace. I’m seeing my surgeon next wk for my 3 monthly check up so will discuss it then. My onc has been reluctant to biopsy the area as it’s so damaged from the rads it mightn’t heal properly. Will flag it up though

hi elaine yes I’ve had a very fast recurrence but not in these circumstances. With only just having the scan + getting the ‘best possible news’ from my onc, I just wasn’t sure if things could turn nasty in such a short time frame. I suppose anythin is possible especially with tnbc but I’m hopin + prayin my fears are unfounded…

Has anyone ever exprienced progression/ relapse within weeks of a good scan??

hi tina so sorry you have this worry just as you had good response could the pain in liver area be from rads? i am about to start them so not sure of longterm effects i really hope your concerns are unfounded but we will always worry. take care x
