hysterectomy?
hysterectomy? Hi, this is my first time, although I have been reading everyone elses comments over the past few months, and it has really helped me get through the chemo.
Was diagnosed in April last year, grade 2, full clearance, no lymph node involvement. Was advised to have lumpectomy and 20 sessions of radio. 3 weeks into radio I detected another lump in same breast, within 1 week I had chosen to have a mastectomy. I had bone and liver scans all clear. The lump was benign to grade 1 and again there was no lymph nodes involved and I was give the option of chemo which I took. The mammogram was showing no lump but it was detected by the ultra sound. They think that it was there all the time and just did not show.
I have just finished my treatment, thank goodness, and have now gone onto Zoladex and Arimadex, I just wondered if any other ladies took up the option of a hysterectomy or to just have their ovaries out to save having monthly injections? I feel very much better as each day passes, (2 weeks after treatment) and have now been offered a new job, has anyone else started work so soon after treatment finished?
By the way I am 46 years old. To anyone out there who has just started, just remember that everything passes and there is light at the end of the tunnel!
welcome to this site Lancslass
so pleasedyour treatment is finished ,its good to be able to move on isnt it ,and to know that all your scans are clear ,good luck in your new job xx
I did I asked for my ovaries out as, like you, I was 46 at the time and I knew I wouldn’t be having any more kids. Gynie suggested having full hysterectomy so no chance of gettng it in uterus. I took her up on it and am glad that’s one less thing to worry about turning cancerous! But I did have a family history of bc and when my mum died she was so full of it they couldn’t for sure say where the primary had been, there was a possibility it could have been uterine which is why she was so willing to give a hysterectomy to me. The flushes were no worse than those I was having anyway. And no more smear tests!
