I know what you mean Emily. In just over a year being on Tam i went up from 9 !/2 stone to 12 !!! couldnt stop eating, hubby said i had bulimia without the throwing up. I have been on Femara since end of June, and although i am not so hungry i am still going up, just past 12 stone now. Had to take drastic action and just living off porridge and salad and trying to be more active. Its not easy!
So i suppose i am the last person to offer any advise - sorry.
Hi Emily
I have just re-joined Weight Watchers who I was doing really well with before dx last Nov. Its my first weight in tonight but I already feel more in control - I think its the writing down what you have eaten and then actually getting on the scales in front of someone that give me the kick up the bum I need. I have struggled this week to eat all my allowance believe it or not but I suppose that it is because its good food and not rubbish that I am eating.
Good luck
Karen
Hi
I have exactly the same problem.
Before cancer and or tamoxafin (less than 3 months ago) I had a warning mechanism in my brain that said “that’s enough”, this seems to have completely gone. A month ago, I had a pub cooked breakfast, a sandwich lunch and a Kentucky for tea; I was so hungry I even bought an extra burger to eat on the drive home. After I finished the Kentucky I ate a large bag of malteezers.
It was then that I realised I had a big problem, I am a size 12 and was reasonable proud of my body, but it was obvious I was going to put on weight and also feel terrible with the type of food I was eating.
My solution to this was to join slimming world, I felt a bit embarrassed as I am still quite small, but I explained to the group leader my reason for joining. In three weeks I have lost the 8lbs I gained, and I now just want to maintain my weight. The reason I joined slimming world is that they have loads of varieties of food that you can eat as much as you like, all day every day, and it’s not all fruit and salad. I now eat until my heart’s content but I eat the right food and feel really really healthy.
I also gave up smoking on the day of my surgery

Brilliant…thank you very much with your advice, seems like its a good idea to join a group!
xx
hello ladies, i too have the same problem. I am on arimidex and having rads and have put on nearly 3 stone ! trying to cut out the rubbish but the weight is so hard to lose !

Didnt do too good this week at the weigh in could have been the vast quantities of wine I consumed at the weekend - why do we over indulge before starting a diet! I bought the Weight Watchers magazine and there are three ladies in there that have had treatment for bc and who have sucessfully lost weight.

I’ve also in the last few months gained a spare tyre around my waist. I blame the tamoxifen and zoladex. I call it my middle-age spread (at 28) or my wibbly-wobbly wonder, ha ha. I really don’t know how to get rid of it. Nuisance!
I lost another 2lbs last night. Was supposed to be maintaining, so I am having a binge today…wohooooooooooooooo
Congratulations dbusby
Imanaged to gain half a pound lol - though I have been exercising like an olympic althlete LOL when I measured myslef I had lost an inch off my waist so that mad e me feel better.
