I did it!

Last night I held my quiz night and raffle in aid of Breast Cancer Care. I’ve been planning it for weeks and I just kind of took it in my stride, writing letters to try to get prizes, finding a good venue, entertainment, people to come and yesterday it hit me and I was so nervous! I wanted to do it for my Mum though. She is in one of her good weeks and I knew she could be the ‘guest of honour’ so I did it! I was the quiz master and was a bag of nerves, nothing a large glass of wine couldn’t solve though!

Anyway, there was about 70 people, 11 great prizes, an excellent venue, a brilliant Elvis impersonator and raised £607.73!! Mum had a great time too. Only thing is she has woken up with a sore throat and I’m annoyed with myself for thinking it would be OK for her to be in a room with lots of people, but as she said, she did have a funny throat before, I just wonder if it was too much for her. Anyway I will make sure I look after her and the main thing is it was great to see her with a smile on her face last night, especially swinging those hips with Elvis!

Hope everyone is doing OK.

Hi Michelle

That’s great, well done for raising the cash and giving your Mum a really good night out. Tell her to gargle with tepid salt water, that usually sorted out my sore throats which I actually got a few of during chemo

How is your Mum doing anyway, I often think of her and you.

Well done Michelle.
I bet your mum is so proud of you.

Hi Michelle,

What a fantastic thing to do, and well done for raising such a lovely amount!

I have often read your messages on the forums, and I just had to say what a wonderful daughter you are, such a great support to your dear Mum. I wish you both all the very best of luck, and may this journey be as easy as possible for both of you.

Very best wishes,

Hi, thank you all so much for your messages, that’s so nice of you. Means a lot when you know people are reading your messages!

Mum is doing OK, I think she is finding it tough, as anyone would expect, but we’re getting there. She is due to have her fourth chemo next Tuesday. She is having 8 now as they say it will be better to do more now to try to ensure it doesn’t come back. So half way there next week! Her consultant said he thinks the tumour has shrunk and she had a scan last week for them to double check and we get the results on Monday. Quite nervous but I’m hoping that it’s going to be good news as he had already said he thought it had shrunk a little. I just go to these appointments with an open mind now!

We are having a shopping day on Sunday which will be good! Hope you are all doing OK and feeling good at the moment to enjoy the weekend, I actually read all of your messages too! Anyone up to anything nice?! I’m going to my friends daughters birthday party tomorrow as a High School Musical cheerleader!! The things I do.

Hi Michelle

I’m so glad your Mum is doing OK still. I can’t get over what a concerned daughter you are… she is very lucky!

Enjoy the shopping and the High School Musical business, that sounds like fun!
