I saw the Plastic Surgeon on June 16th and he said he could do a bilateral reconstruction using my tummy however I’d probably end up smaller than my right breast which has had 2 WLEs!!! I’ve opted to have the bilateral matectomy as I have DCIS in the right breast and ALH in the left. After much anguish and soul searching I’ve decided with my husband to let’s do the bilateral Mastectomy and remove all the “what ifs” AND get a good result cosmetically now. But having weighed it all up I’ve decided that I can’t put myself through 8-15 hours of surgery to end up smaller than my smaller right breast when my left breast is only a B cup anyway!! Instead I’ll be having expander implants put in on July 23rd. If I were bigger anyway (D/E or bigger) I’d think the DIEP flap was worth it to get the flat tummy but us small busted girls are at a disadvantage to start with.
