I know it's frightening

I have found this website most informative and would encourage anyone newly diagnosed to use it for support. I was diagnosed with DCIS in Aug 07. It was over a large area so my only option was a mastectomy (I am 35). I opted to have a prophelactic mastectomy on the right side too. Four weeks ago I had a bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction using implants and was so scared - i have 3 children under 5 and had no idea how i would cope. There have been good and bad days, but 4 weeks later I feel so much better - still a bit sore, of course, and its taking a bit of getting used to not having any nipples! But I wanted to reassure you that every day you feel better and stronger. I have an appointment next week as my breast consulatant would like me to have radiotherapy and I have to take Tamoxifen for 5 years (again very scary, but this website helped me so much) but I’m feeling positive and hope this helps you feel positive too.
