Ill retirement or Constructive dismissal

Hiya,
I asked for ill health retirement in August as am 65. My employer was really good. They retired me due to ill health on a tier 1, which means i get all my pension as though worked till 66. Although not entitled to state pension yet i claimed E.S.A. and P.I.P which i was granted, so with my benefits and pension, its not far off my full time wage.
Employers should accommodate you as best as they possibly can in what you want. I know in some circumstances its not possible.
Really hope you can sort something it.
Must admit its the best thing i ever did. Stress has gone and a weight lifted from shoulders.
Much love

Equality Act 2010
Covers anyone with cancer
You are a disabled person for life under employment law

NB no need to even be in employ for two years or permanent contract

Discrimination is just that

Stay strong have you got a good friend who could maybe advocate to take some stress off you.
After my diagnosis and through treatment i found the most stressful and upsetting time was the “catch ups” with my manager which i felt wasn’t about my well being but when i would return to work.
I am close to discussing ill health dismissal and i was resigned to accepting this but i am 62 and everyone is different. I have recently started to feel better and i am good to try phased return.
Contact macmillan again they were helpful to me and maybe get more advice everyones behind you remember we didnt choose to have this awful illness .
STAY STRONG :muscle: 🩷

Keep trying - before I had breast cancer I suffered a central retinal vein occlusion and I was worried that I would not be fit enough to return to my job and at the same time informed that I wasn’t unwell enough to be granted early retirement - which proved to be correct as I was able to return . I’m not sure what you do or your age or whether your problems are physical restrictions or fatigue / medication or needing further treatment but I remember doing an assessment process over the phone re my disability ( which isn’t such a disability now ) then having a face to face interview once I returned to work in regards to getting special equipment to help me because of my poor vision - none of which I needed in the end but part of that would have been government funded . It was an HR manager who told me to apply for it at my long term sickness meeting but I can’t remember who I contacted - definitely a government thing .

I had accrued a lot of annual leave and my manager gave me an extra annual leave day most weeks to get my leave in and this effectively extended my return to work. Bur maybe you have used your already ?

Very sorry to hear about your husband’s diagnosis I know that there are different degrees of MS just as there are different degrees and problems relating to cancer and I hope that you have been able to get any benefits you are entitled to in relation to him. Xx
