hi im 16 and a few weeks ago i had like a painful armpit and found a lump there. i made an appointment with the docs but cancelled it as it went away. however a couple of days ago my armpit became sore again and is even more painful and i have a bigger lump. as i am only sixteen i dont know what to think. is this breast cancer or just an infection?
Dear mizzababy,
Breast Cancer Care would always advise you to see your doctor if you have any concerns.
You could also talk to one of our helpline staff in confidence. They can offer information and support. The Helpline will be open at 9.00am tomorrow. The number is 0808 800 6000.
Kindest Regards

You have come to the right place! It is very important you get this checked out: it may and most likely will be nothing, but I’m not a doctor. It is a scarey thing to go through, as all on this site are aware of but if its nothing the relief will be great. If its something it will be treated.
Please let us know what happens and see your GP TOMORROW! (hope I don’t sound like your Mum!)
Take care

hi please go to the doctors tomorrow and let us all know what he says dont leave it at your age it could be anything tc laura xx
Hi Mizzababy
Good advice from our friends, just go to the doctors asap. It could be anything from hormonal things to armpit cysts, check things out straight away otherwise you are going to worry yourself silly.

You must go to doc love-it sounds like an enlarged lymph node fighting an infection but only your doctor can tell you for sure.
Please put your mind (and ours now!) at rest and see your doctor. If you don’t you will just keep on worrying.
Look after yourself, you are number one.

hiya guys thanks for all the support, the thing is this morning my armpit doesnt hurt and the lump is kind of going i think. do u think i should still go to the doctors? and plus my doctors have a really long waiting list even for emergencies
You wont feel happy till you have been so make an appt.If you cant see the doc see if the practice nurse will see you and she will tell you if you need an urgent appt and will fast track it if need be.It is highly unlikely,at 16, that you have breast cancer but there may still be s problem that needs sorting.
