Hi I am on my second implant after mastectomy, the first one was removed and replaced because of capsulating and I now find myself in the same position, I will be 2yrs post chemo and radiotherapy.
I was wondering if anyone else as needed their implant to be replaced and what options they have been given, I have been offered the LD reconstruction,but not sure to go with this or another implant, I am worried in case the third one would harden too, does any one have any advice please

I had a similar problem with my tissue expander. It went hard and had to be removed. It felt to me like my body was rejecting it and it caused a nasty infection. I’m still waiting for my recon but when they do it they are planning on not using an implant because of the previous problems. I am having LD recon using my own fat and tissue.
If I was in your position I wouldn’t take a chance with an implant again because it may just be that your body reacts to them all the time.
Just my opinion though.
