I had reconstruction surgery at the endof June and it looks like my implant is rejecting. I am back on antibiotics (4th time including iv with a week in hospital) my consultant is deciding on Monday weither to take the implant out which would be in that week.
Has anyone else had any problems
I met someone who had the same problem when I was in hospital for my surgery. She had a family history of breast cancer and opted for bilateral mastectomy with implants. She then went to live in Australia with her husband, and developed an infection so flew back to London before christmas to have IV antibiotics. She was 28 and said the new breasts were great but I don’t think she knew of the risk of rejection. Implants are foreign objects and there is more risk with them than if you have a reconstruction using your body tissue alone e.g. a DIEP
