I’m due to have my expanders replaced by implants when I return from holiday in September. Will anyone give me advice they think is helpful?
Hi JMaddy,
Hope you’ve seen a separate thread under ‘Reconstructive Surgery’ - Swap Expander implants. Several ladies have given me good advice on this.

Hi Maddy
I had my explanders replaced by implants three years ago. Had the expanders put in after I had an infection after my initial reconstruction, then had a patch of skin that had to heal for a couple of months or so, then had the expanders put in, gradually increased up over a few months, and then approximately 7 months after my initial reconstruction went wrong, I had my second lot of permanent implants, and so far so good. Because I lost a patch of skin with the infection on the left breast unfortunately the left breast is a bit lopsided, and I have put a bit of weight on, was 8st when I had my original implants done, am now about 9, so consequently have a bit of creasing along the top of the implant, but certainly nothing noticeable in a low cut top or bra. A couple of people have commented who did my “boob job”, because they look good, so they can’t be that bad. I don’t know if I can give you advice, other than don’t overdo it, infection is always a threat, so be very vigilant on that score, first two weeks seem to be the worst time for infection.
Best of luck.
Julie
Hi
Thanks for your replies. Have read the other thread now. Just hope I’m satisfield with the implant size when it’s all over. I don’t want to go through any more operations.
